Description It was about 6:13 AM. Ruby stood ready at the bus station with a suitcase. She squeezed the handle tightly and felt her stomach squirm. She was more excited than she has ever been. She was waiting for the others to arrive. She, along with her friends, were about to all go to Jason's home at Crystal Lake for spring break. She squeezed her eyes shut with excitement and swayed back and forth. When she opened her eyes, she saw a shadow towering over her on the ground before her. She quickly turned around and her heart rate went up. Jason was standing there with a duffel bag.

"Hey there."

"H-hi," Ruby whispered.

Jason patted her on the head gently and ruffled her hair a bit. Ruby giggled and matted her hair back in place. Just then Stu showed up with Sadako. They too had suitcases. They were ready to go.

"Who else did you invite, big guy?" Stu asked.

"Well I allowed Ruby to invite her friend, Esther. I know Michael and his friend, Sam, are coming. I guess that's it," Jason replied in his mind.

"No Freddy?" Sadako asked.

"NO!"

"Too bad," said Stu. "I was planning on poking fun at his expense for his history at Crystal Lake."

Michael suddenly appeared behind Stu along with Sam. It made Stu jump.

"Don't do that ever again!" he panted.

"Why not? It's fun," thought Michael.

Sam giggled in a creepy, yet cute tone. Sadako awed over the pint-sized trick 'r treater and hugged him tightly. Sam hugged her back. When she set him down he offered her a ghost shaped lollipop to which she took with delight. Sam seemed to like her. Soon Esther showed up, and to everyone's surprise, with Freddy tagging along behind her.

"I didn't invite you!" Jason thought.

"I didn't want to come!" Freddy said roughly. "Then again, how could I not when I could get a chance to hang out with the lovely orphan?"

"Touch me and you'll wake up hanging in a tree by your neck," Esther said calmly.

"Isn't she a great little brat?" Freddy asked.

"I'm sure she's a delight when you're alone with her," said Stu.

"There will NEVER be a time when that happens!" said Esther.

Jason sighed. "Well if everyone is here, then we better board the bus," he thought.

"Let's go!" yelled Stu.

Stu picked his bag up and raced off onto the bus with Sadako in hand. Jason lead Ruby onto the bus with Michael and Sam close behind. Freddy made a gesture as if saying "ladies first" to Esther. Esther bopped him on the nose and walked onto the bus. Freddy rubbed his nose and then followed close behind. The group sat close together on the bus; two to a seat. The bus waited for more people to board. Sadako looked out the window and smiled. She was excited. It would be her first time to see the wonderful wilderness of America. She tried to picture it in her mind, but kept getting images of Japan instead. She giggled to herself. Just then she caught a glimpse of a dark, rusty truck race by the bus station. It honked its scary horn at some people who were on there way the the station as it raced by. She thought she recognized it.

"Cooper must be in a hurry," Stu said over Sadako's shoulder.

"Cooper the Creeper?" asked Sadako.

"Yep. He does the same thing every year," said Stu.

"I bet he's off to Vegas!" shouted Freddy.

"Vegas is the other way, idiot," said Esther.

"Yeah. Besides, why Vegas? You know he's not into gambling," thought Michael.

"If that's what you think," Freddy said grinning.

Just then the doors of the bus closed, and it began to move. The group went silent as the bus rolled out of the station. It would be a long ride. Ruby was already leaning against Jason asleep. She had gotten up at 5 AM to be sure that she had everything she needed before coming down to the station. Michael sat very still in his seat with headphones running up under his mask. Sam had pulled his mask off and was nibbling on a Halloween colored peppermint stick. Sadako and Stu fell asleep leaning against each other. Esther Sat quietly with a flashlight while reading a book. Freddy stared out the window throwing quiet taunts at cars as they passed by. Jason looked at his friends and smiled under his mask. It sure was going to be a fun spring break.

It was at least a 5 hour ride before the bus stopped for lunch. The group got off and had lunch at a diner. It was a small diner, yet lovely and had great service. Then they all got on another bus that took them 20 minutes down a road surrounded by trees on either side. Soon they came to a dirt road on one side that had an old sign next to it. It read:

Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake

The group got off and walked the rest of the way down the dirt road past the old sign. Ruby's heart began to pound in her chest as they drew closer and closer to the lake. They soon came to an old cabin nestled into the trees off to the side. It looked old, yet nice. Jason lead them up to the front door and opened it up. He lead them inside. The inside was dark, but the sunlight flowed through the dim windows. It was old and tidy. They all looked around at the cabin. It was close together, but it was also cozy.

"Nice," said Stu.

"Pff, Sadako's place was better!" said Freddy.

Esther elbowed Freddy hard. "It's really nice," she said.

"Thanks."

"What are the sleeping arrangements?" asked Sadako.

"Well this cabin will be for meals and hanging out in. For sleeping we will use the boys and girls counselor cabins."

"Where is the boys cabin?" asked Stu.

"Just keep walking down the road and you'll see two cabins on the left side. The boys cabin is labeled. The sign for the girls cabin fell off a long time ago."

"Aw. Why can't we all bunk together?" asked Freddy.

"Because!" Esther said hitting him over the head.

"Well let's get down there and claim our bunks," thought Michael.

"YEAH!" Sam suddenly squealed.

Michael, Sam, and the other boys filed out while Jason stayed back to prepare the cabin for later. Sadako lead Ruby and Esther out to follow the boys to the counselor cabins. As they reached them, they saw that they were about in the same condition as the previous cabin. The boys scrambled inside their cabin. The girls could hear them laughing and fooling around inside as they claimed their bunks. Sadako stared up at the door to the girls cabin. There was a faded spot where a sign once hanged.

"Wow, Jason was right," she said softly with awe.

She and the other girls went inside. They immediately began to claim bunks. Esther chose one next to a window. Ruby and Sadako chose a bunk bed. Ruby made it clear that she was too scared to go up, so Sadako took the top bunk. Esther began to unpack a few things. Ruby pulled a towel out and wiped her forehead. She was feeling hot. Sadako climbed up onto her bunk and tested to see if it would hold her. It creaked, but she didn't hear any sounds of splitting wood. Ruby sat down and fanned herself.

"Hooot," she sighed.

"I'm kinda used to it," said Sadako. She peeked down and looked at Ruby. "Do you need a fan?"

Ruby nodded. "Yes please."

Sadako handed her a fan. Ruby began to fan herself with it. She smiled with closed eyes. It felt so good. Esther changed into more breathable clothes and arranged her toiletries next to her bunk on a small shelf. Sadako smiled when she felt the pillow on her bunk. It felt perfect to her. She sat quietly and listened. There was the sounds of birds chirping and leaves in the trees blowing around. It was a peaceful place. Ruby pulled the covers of her bed back and gulped. There was an old, dried up blood stain on her pillow. Sadako leaned over the edge and peeked down again.

"You wanna trade pillows?" she asked Ruby.

"Please?" Ruby asked.

"You do realize that there are other beds in here to take a pillow from. Right?" Esther said.

Ruby and Sadako looked around. Esther was right. Ruby blushed with embarrassment and got up to trade her pillow out with a clean one. Right as she swapped her pillow with an empty bed, the door to their cabin burst open. Ruby shrieked and fell back. Freddy was standing in the doorway in his swimsuit.

"Time to go to the lake!" he shouted with a smile.

The girls shrieked. "GET OUT!" they yelled at him.

Freddy was suddenly pelted in the face with a pillow. He fell back and out the door. Sadako rushed forward and slammed the door. Freddy laid on his back outside. He pulled the pillow off his face and looked at it. It was the same pillow that Ruby previously had with the blood stain. He frowned at it and looked up at the door.

"What the hell was their problem?" he wondered out loud.

Did Ruby unintentionally pick the bunk where Kevin Bacon got the arrow through his neck? Are there more nods to the Friday the 13th franchise in this series?

Well actually I was making a reference to the scene when they found a bloody ax in one of the beds. Although the cabin Stu and Sadako meet in is a reference to the one Kevin Bacon met his fate.

Ah. I'd forgotten that part. The original Friday the 13th has faded in my memory. I just got a new idea for a new character to include in your strips. And it is Hannibal Lecter. I have two versions of this. Either he is a teen-aged student or his adult self. His adult self could either be the school therapist or the school's cook. Either would be pretty darkly funny. Nothing more unintentionally scarring than therapy with Hannibal Lecter.

Well everyone may picture it differently. I was picturing the original camp from the first original 1980 Friday the 13th film, but the dock from the Freddy vs Jason film.
