Description
Okay, so I don't do Gift Art often, and in all honesty, there are certain people whom may have deserved it a bit sooner for me to give them something in return for any awesome artworks they made, but eh. Sometimes you just get an idea in your head that keeps nagging you until you actually get it done. This was one of them. One of my more recently made friends, General Supertoad (whom I usually just call "General" for short) appears to accidentally make contact with... Dick Dastardly!
Everyone who's even slightly familiar with the "Dastardly And Muttley In Their Flying Machines" cartoon (a.k.a. "Stop That Pidgeon!"), should probably know the often reoccurring scene where Dick is phoned by his superior officer, the unnamed General.
So I guess you can all see where I went with this.
I have to ashamedly admit that, seeing I never drew either DD or Muttley ever before, I blatantly redrew a picture I had in front of me on the computer screen the whole time.
Ahwell, at least I didn't trace it!
Hope this cheers you up a bit, General!
Dick Dastardly and Muttley are Β© Hanna-Barbera Productions
General Supertoad belongs to , but I'm fairly sure that's obvious at this point.

I just saw this show today! Dick D. is one of my favorite characters in Wacky Races, but I didn't know he had his own show till about an hour after I woke up today.

Oh they thought of shooting the pidgeon, it's just that they generally missed epically, and used pretty unthinkable ammunition like cannonballs. XD

Matt: Awesome work, HHog! I remember these guys from Wacky Races when it was still airing on Cartoon Network.

Thanks!
And yeah, while I personally preferred D&M in their Flying Machines, Wacky Races was fantastic, too.

Heh. I remember Wacky Races. It was my mom's favorite show back when it was on. I must say you drew that crazy pair quite well. Keep up the good work!

Heh! Well, I personally preferred D&M in their Flying Machines, but Wacky Races is awesome as well.
Heck, they even appeared in Yogi's Treasure Hunt, and that was usually pretty fun to watch, too.
Thanks!

Heh, heh... that was a crazy old cartoon series, that was!
Kind of like Wile E Coyote & Road Runner on the wing!
Funny how they've got the wrong number and contacted GST!

HHog In reply to DCLeadboot [2008-05-10 21:12:01 +0000 UTC]
Heheh, yup. I kept hearing Dick Dastardly's voice in my head whenever I referred to GST as "General", so eventually I just had to get it out of my system.
Yeah, the formula was kind of similar to the old Roadrunner cartoons, wasn't it? Right down to the signature sounds they make, Roadrunner's "Beep Beep!", against Yankee Doodle Pidgeon's bugle playing.

Nice one.
This is the first time I ever saw Dasterdly and Mutley smile without the smile being a "mhuhaha, we're evil" one.

I thought the same thing about the reference picture I used to draw that, actually.
Maybe not the first time, but it certainly doesn't happen often, anyway.

Nou, zeker!

Soms op ubc.. of hoe het ook heet zie je dat je daar nu voor moet betalen enzo X-x;
maar op Youtube zijn er ook wel vaak wat afleveringen te zien

HHog In reply to DoubleSNL [2008-05-10 22:18:15 +0000 UTC]
Te veel geweld... Tja, dat verklaart ook zo'n beetje de helft van wat er tegenwoordig op Nickelodeon te zien is...
Mja, ik heb inderdaad een abonnement op UPC, maar goed, Boomerang Channel is het waard.

*coughs, I just taken a pill O_o;* as soon as the name of the submission was seen in the slots of Deviations, I woulda guessed it was something like this XD oh jesus...looks like GST got a wrong number there
unless the General got a replacement
and you what? in front of you on the computer screen? you naughty boy XD *ruffles up your hair* ...although actually I have done that a few times myself so I should take that back...
...the moment in the show which still amused me was the flying bed XD
looks like another clomp on the head for Dick there through the reciever from the Generak then XD

HHog In reply to SteffLoui [2008-05-10 08:55:43 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, probably.
Y'know, I can actually imagine a fist coming out of the type of phone Dastardly is holding, I just... can't imagine how GST would get his hand in the kind of phone HE's using. Which makes it all the more fun, of course!
And yeah, I "cheated" a little. But then, like I said... I never really drew Dick, nor Muttley before, so until I've drawn them enough to know them by heart (it might happen... ), that's the best way to get any sort of reliably decent-looking result.

'S nothing wrong with it, y'know.
Nobody's born with the skill to somehow draw everything all fantastic-like, so the best way to build up skill is to practice by redrawing existing art. That way, you can find yourself paying attention to details other artists also pay attention to, but which might have never occured to you on your own.
