Do dragons count as fantasy animals? You'd think, wouldn't you? But the answer, according to Deviantart, is no. Evidently all fantasy animals count as anthro now... And as a dragon isn't really anthropomorphic, I'm putting it into the category 'swords and sorcery'. A copywrite-friendly version of dungeons and dragons, maybe?Oh, deviantart... why does your sorting system become more nonsensical with each upgrade?
I wonder how all the griffin/dragon/other fantasy animal artists feel about getting lumped into the 'anthro' category.
I was thinking of going to Dragoncon next year, and I'd have to make up a body of work for it. That is, if they don't kick me out for having furry not-dragons

I love this picture, although the mother kindo of looks like she's wondering what he hell is happening to that weird rock she popped out a few months ago instead of having the expression of welcoming her child into the new world. I don't know maybe she's anxious about it's arrival, if its okay and if it will be able to make it's owm way out of the egg.
Either way I love it, it makes me think which is always good.
I think your style of dragons is just as justified as any other dragon form.

You're not the only one with furry dragons. Though to be fair the veiw on this one was so narrowly focused it's kind of up to the viewer to decide exactly what this pair of adorably cute creatures are.
I agree that the sorting of categories can get kind of silly, though fantasy seems as good a catch all as any. Yet I suppose you'd like to have someone looking for "dragons" be able to just type in "dragons" and have this show up. I don't know... people find me for the weirdest of reasons I suspect.
Anyway, your pencils are wonderful. I'd build you a showcase gallery if I had the ability to do such.

Despite all of what I dislike about deviant art (arsehole sorting system being a great example); it still brings me some happiness because there are artists like this. Its lovely to see art being recognized for its themes and detail... rather than how many breasts it has... as FurAffinity might do...

i love your dragon style, even if it is a bit a-typical! these ones are so loveable! much more like my idea of a dragon, rather than nearly every one else's concept of dragons being dumb monsters that just want to hoard gold and eat knights or maidens!

I was tossing around that "anthro" category as well. Fortunately, the last debate involved a slightly...hrm..humanized(?) griffin...so it was too big a stretch. But still, for other future pieces, it felt rather odd cause it didn't really fit as anthro as I know it...pleh.
I do love the dragon though.
