I have a month left to MFF, and I realized during my calculations that I don't have even half the amount of original art I need to fill my space. Yikes! So it was time to get crackin!I don't have much to say about this one. During my brainstorm/exercise doodling, I started drawing lions with fire manes, spawning this finished piece.

Have you ever read any Narnia? It reminds me of Aslan and the sacrificial stone that breaks in the second book. I really thought that's what this was. Also, amazing work

I like lions with fire manes. It's a very interesting concept.
(By the way, why hasn't nintendo come up with a fire pokemon that has a mane of fire? When they did make a lion-like poke, it was an electric type...)

A scan down the first page of comments and it strikes me funny: Nothing about Aslan, of whom you have so richly depicted. And of course, as Aslan is the literary tip of the hat to the risen son, and his rising sun, it's just a very fitting piece singularly well done. Where do you come up with your ideas - through that marvelous well spring you call your muse?
Hopefully, this fine fellow sold well for you.

Really? My apologies good lady, for I find it impossible not to look for Aslan in such stunning lions now. But really, with Aslan's resurrection on the broken table, it naturally came to my mind.
If that didn't come to mind for anyone else then I'll withdraw to my little corner with a second apology. He's a very stupendous work of art either way.

This is lovely! I love how you've coloured this with the pencil (you did drew it with pencil right?) Lions with fire manes are awesome, I'm not sure but is that a temple I see in the background? It makes this picture have a 'ancient' touch to it. beautiful!

I don't know if you have ever read the never ending story, but there is a lion in it called the many colored death. He lives in a desert temple and changes colors and is firey looking. Any way this is exactly how I imagined him to look. This is beautiful and imaginative. I hope you do a colored version of this some day.

God I wish I could do work like this.....
Perhaps not in the same style, but to this degree of detail. I've been working toward stylized realism for freaking ever, and every time I give it a go it just...it doesn't work. It doesn't feel right, and I can't figure out why....
