I'm strangely attracted to beasties that have human heads and animal bodies like the sphinx, manticore, harpies, etc. Especially stilted, kind of gawky one.I could lie and say that this is my balance assignment but it isn't. I was just doodling after a day of commission work and this is what popped out.

This sketch makes me want to believe all mythical beings and things are real. Well, maybe they are, where did these stories all come from? But hey, this just amazed me at how... Unique it is, and I love the feathers. I would have never have quessed this was a sketch, just a black and white piece. Wonderful job <3

Usually human-headed animals send chills down my spine(no clue why), and I'd be lying if I said this one didn't, But it really IS very BEAutiful! I love the wings and paws especially!!

it's always interesting to see the many ways people draws Sphinxes, how much of the creature they choose to make human, how much of the creature they make animal, what kind of cat they use. I find it all very telling of the artist. I am glad that this, the most popular sphinx on DA is in no way generic. wonderful work.

This is amazing. Would you be insulted if I asked to color it? I will do the best coloring job to my abilities. Will take forever due to work load but I think it would be a great challenge for me.

So...creepy coincidence. My husband just started playing a Dungeon Quest game on his new Droid App phone, and there's a quest called 'Answer the Sphinx'. If you colored this picture, it would almost exactly be that picture. Freaky.

Wonderful! I enjoyed your concept. You got to give her a reflexive and peaceful look. She looks more a creature interested in interacting with nature around her than proposing enigmas to humans in order to devour them. Congrats!

Sphinx is Greek for 'the throttler.' Maybe this one doesn't like strangling people. Very nice expression, seamless integration of the three anatomies. You can be very proud of this one.
