Description
A quick coloring of a really old sketch of mine of some raptorine dino. Sorry for the poor line quality, I scanned it a long time ago and had to color with an extremely small document.On a totally unrelated note, have any of you ever wondered about some of the indy art categories? Like.... light, and medieval and, popart and the like. I mean, how many people actually use them? I don't even know what some of them mean O.o;; I find myself using just a few, really.

Nice raptor almost reminds of Dino Riders for some reason... of course it could just be the fact I've been watching all the old Dino Riders Episodes...

Raptors rock your socks, they do. I love the position it's in, the twist of the neck just looks so good! The slight sketchiness of it is also cool; the mist is a nice effect.

Yup, I only use Miscellaneous when submitting. Haven't really explored enough to know whether or not I should use any other category. Perhaps a section that deals with renditions of extinct fauna exclusively......

My guesses about the categories...
Light: actually light-colored, regardless of topic. This category makes sense in the Wallpaper section, where some people prefer light-colored desktop wallpapers so their icons can show up, but it doesn't make sense to me in Indy Art.
Medieval: this is distinguished from Fantasy because it's historically accurate. Ren Faire people would go for this one.
Pop art: pop art is a modern art movement. Andy Warhol is the Big Main Man of pop art- look him up. He's the one who did the squintillion Marilyn Monroes.

Just so you know papart consist of art like that of Andy Whorhol (sp?) It's art that consist of wierd things. He did the last supper like 20 times in diffrent colors using a pic from a encyclopedia. He also did the famous cambles food cans and the marilon monroe pictures done in diffrent colors. In short pop art created the copywrite law. It has changed alot since then but it's really taking pictures that are already done and altering them. Other than that i have no clue what the others mean.
I like the dinasaur!!!!!!!! He looks hungry so im going to shut up!

*claws at face* Yes, I know what it is!! I wasn't comatose during art history. I just meant that it was a silly... did I say I didn't know what it was? I didn't mean to. Anyhow, I just meant that it was a silly category to put up here because I very rarely see anyone do popart anymore.

Dunno about the categories. When I post my photos, I have to choose between nature/scenery/landscape/streetscape. Most of the time, multiple categories are appropriate. I sorta grok the differences, but I am not sure if they are the best division possible.
Great velociraptor/deinonychus/whatever pic.

Dude, I love raptors. Your coloring of this picture is nice and soft, I think it really fits. Hmm...never really bothered to look at the other Indy art catagories. Guess that just goes to show you that I only use a few as well ^_^;

Another rather ominous pic! Awsome... love his 'gonna get ya an' eat ya' pose!
I haven't a clue what vector is... but dark and light, well, this pic may fit into 'dark', think of them as good and evil perhaps... angelic subjects always seem to have soft, light colours in them etc. As for pop art is just plain weird in my opinion, too bright and obscure, I'd put Picasso in there, but that's only going off my limited knowledge Β¬_Β¬;

I may tell you what popart is at least, we had about it at our school just some weeks ago.. popart is art that represent the present time, it may be cans and boxes from our time, papers or just methods of coloring, drawing and sculpturing...
By the way, love your stuff!

I know WHAT it is, I just don't understand why they have, of all things, pop art, and not say... surreal art, which is really more popular and more often used on Deviant. It just seems like they threw out this hodgepodge of terms

Some of those art thingies are really strange, a very small group of people do them... like pop art (Andy Warhol/psychedelic style)... or vector (wtf is it anyway )
Anyways, awesome pic... Velociraptors are one of my fave Dinosaurs Great work on the claws, colouring, yummy misty effect and pose
