took more than a second to think of a title for this one. this is one of my best pieces of work so i just thought id give it a better title than the one second crap i usually come up with.this was done quite a while ago but im still incredibly proud of it. it may look very simple but, let me tell you, IT WASNT EASY TO DO. you have no idea how much time and effort went into this. however, im satisfied with this pic and i feel i accomplished what it was i intended to do with this picture. it was to be more than just another picture of metal sonic: it was a test of my skill and a stretch of limitations.
i love the tones tool because its so much more unique than all the other tools ive ever used. it doesnt come out all smooth and doesnt blend like any other tool on any other program. it has a look all its own and its rarely used for anything other than decoration/bg. so i sort of wanted to be defiant here and use it to create the art rather than accent it. and i wanted to make it look as 3d as possible. that was what i set out to do and this is what i came up with.
far from perfect but good enough for me

Wow, dude, I friggin -love- this. The effect is not only very well done, but very unique and eye catching as well. I've seen a lot of oekaki work involving tones (and done a lot myself), but the way you've used them here just really stands out above others. My only complaint really is you having put Metal's name square across the middle of the image, it kinda pulls the focus away and detracts overall. I would have suggested maybe putting it in a corner somewhere, or perhaps leaving it out entirely.
I can really tell you put a lot of effort into this, and I can tell you that in my opinion it was very well worth it! I wouldn't mind playing around with this style of tones myself sometime if you didn't mind ^_^
And, of course, the fact that you chose Metal as your subject in this piece just makes it allllll the more better ;D
