Description

Translated version of my little study on Pilot Fish external anatomy and coloration; I was faced with the inability to draw proper pilot fish during the scalloped hammerhead piece, so I made a little study on them which focused on the basic details where attention was paid in order to find a way to draw a proper Naucrates ductor; I got some details of it's anatomy simplified, the coloration to have as a reference (duh) and the volume to keep track during the next drawings! I decided to share this as I think it might be useful for other artists that get confused with this fish's details, be it to draw it on it's own or to use this species in oceanic megafauna art! As I've stated in the PTBR post, I fistly made this in Brazilian Portuguese, my native language (raise ur hand if u didn't knew I was from Brazil) so I decided to translate and share both of the versions to give more opportunities for people who need this and might not speak either language; I'm also studying japanese currently, but I'm not fluent enough on it yet, so I will be translating future useful guides to these three languages once I get comfortable with japanese. Anyways, this site isn't really portuguese-friendly (I can't even use the right accents on the title lol) so I don't think it will be more useful than the english translated version (also most of yall don't speak portuguese I'm guessing lol) but yeah it is what it is, I'm also sharing this in my Pixiv (linked below, IT LOOKS BETTER ON PIXIV) and my twitter! By the way, if you end up using this reference and find it useful, u don't need to give credit (as some people demand nowadays, for references? nah we good) but I would be extra happy if you told me so I can give a little look just for curiosity purposes. About the other group of recurrent megafauna followers, the remoras, there are a lot more species than I thought, and some of them are specific to certain species (like the manta sucker), so if I do a reference sheet like this it will be either hella big or a good number of reference sheets dedicated to them xD
