I still remember this little piece of advice I got from Jaime Jones where he said to make any painting you do a study of a particular effect like sunlight hitting a certain material etc. What you paint doesn't matter as long as you try to accurately portray something you want to learn while you paint whatever you like.
So this would be a study of fire in a night setting and getting the tone of ambient night sky reflection right I guess
