Description
Here is another one that I did for the EOW 100.Howling Forest from Neverending Story.
It's refreshing to try new things and go a little more organic!
But it's pretty hard to maintain proper microcomposition I feel... :/
fun info: there are 3 creatures in this pic...
approx. 3-4h
Stay tuned for more...
Thanks for all the comments etc. on the last one!

I can't be the only person who sees the Adoring Fan from Oblivion in this?
Really though, it's brilliant! You do trees so well.

It's a relatively new fantasy RPG, quite fun (I'm not much into it though).
Anyway if you win in the fighting Arena, you have an Adoring Fan, who is this annoying elf kid with weird hair following you. Funny when he follows you into a dungeon and gets beaten by a skeleton.

i always love you're environments best. This one struck me. I like the eerie feel. It's comforting if that makes sense. I'm sure it doesn't but i like it. Thanks for posting

nice work! great atmosphere
but i see 4 creatures.
the two in the centre (including the fairy)
i see a rabbit on the right, behind a big tree, and i see a mans face on the left side of the tree in the middle. is that true?

I really love your "non-mechanic" pictures! It's good to see that you try fantasy as well!
By the way, this pic will make a great wallpaper.

Hey, long time viewer, first time caller...
What do you mean exactly by your statement of, "But it's pretty hard to maintain proper microcomposition I feel..." ?
I'm always curious about an artist's method and the way they describe what they do.
Thanks, if you have the time that is!

copied from my reply to another poster above:
it's about how you arrange and place secondary elements in an image. How branches are dispersed, size of patches of light. You can have good basic composition but if your microcomposition sucks, it can overthrow your whole image especially with chaotic subject matters like forests!
For example, if you have 3 birds sitting on a pole you might wanna have the spaces between them kinda randomly set and thus harmonious. One sitting a little more apart from the other 2. That is microcomposition.
You need to maintain randomness and yet have harmony if you wanna succeed at it.

Love the atmosphere. Misty grey forests are amongst my favourite things. The light filtering in throug the canopy is plain addicting. The little guy opening up his arms to the trees makes a great focal point. I really enjoyed this picture.

lol, sorry! Yeah, it's the bunny. But I think it looks disctinctive enough NOT to be a branch necessarily
