Description
did this for the IDW activity @ CA.org:'MOTHER MACHINE'
The Birthplace and nurturer of all the genetic childern. Mother Machine is responsible for the caring, hatching and growth of all breeds. A mammoth of size and a true marvel of technological feats. Mother Machine, is a true vision to stand before. While Mother Machine is stationary(non-mobile), she does have defensive measures; such as automated turrets and threat sensors.
I constructed a grid (red lines) in PS7 and printed it on brown paper. Then I sketched with 20% marker and inked with
tech-pen 0.1 & 0.5, digital coloring in PS7
no ref.
dunno how long it took...
wanted to mimic trad. marker render style.
sometimes I wish I could use a 3D prog...

yeah, 650.00 USD!!! Thats not including art supplies and books, whew!!!! Even a scholarship only brings the tuition down to standard university prices in my opinion.
Self taught, now thats something I can relate to. I am also self taught and have not taken any art classes in college or in High school, just always was in a talented art class in k-8th grade to keep me motivated. I just try to grasp what I a can quick enough and to practice at it to I get desired results. But this ID is some thing that I am more than willing to invest further study and practice in. I see the rewards.

OMG~ details! X3
Why couldn't use a 3D program? If u could use one, I'm sure you can construct awesome machines like this, as you're already very good at it~
Niice explanation. Defensive measures Mothers need that X)
Good job~ as always >D

tja, hehe, da hast du mich wohl erwischt.

well maybe except time i don't see what keeps you from not using a 3d program as you would like
great drawing anyway

3D progs tend to make you lazy I think...If I would delve into 3D really I would only use it in order to set up perspective etc. I don't think I will ever do some finished models. Painting is much more challenging...

Great work
