Description

“A shell”

inktober 2016-9 out of 30

Inspired by Hino Hideshi’s “Bug boy”.

Hino Hideshi’s stories are thinly disguised tragedies, once you get past their gross out and shocking nature it’s quite apparent that even at its most monstrous Hideshi’s characters are still very human, children in many cases, children whose innocence has been absolutely obliterated by chaos.

Taking inspiration  from the masters of horror did wonders.

Thank you, I have been feeling kinda down as of late, so it really helps.
I wish you a happy new year.

This gives me a bizarre and wonderful feeling. Even though a giant caterpillar and a skull-worm monster should be scary I can't help but find them charming, especially in the moonlight. The caterpillar looks a bit concerned by what the skull is saying, but nothing terrible. The butterfly sitting on his horn makes him seem like he's got a soft side too, despite all the bones, and he looks relaxed. The harlequin dude looks very chill too, and has been similarly rewarded with a cute visitor. Neat job on the landscape of the vast plains and their shady resting spot. Really nice sky too.

Gustave Dore is one of my favorite artists, not only in technique, I also find his themes fascinating.
Decay, death, rebirth, a long journey, hell, heaven etc.

This is great! And I can totally see the inspiration. I haven't read Bug Boy yet though, can't seem to find it anywhere online. I've read Hell Baby though, and it's one of the best reads I've had for a long time, read the whole in only an hour.

Yes, his reads are surprisingly compact and engaging, "Hell Baby" is by all means rad, and so is "Panorama of hell", I found several titles on Guromanga, including "Bugboy".

Damn. I really wish I could read those but I'm not taking any chances. I've gotten multiple virus from that website, including the Trojan Virus.

Yeah, the site is very intrusive, sorry about that.

Oh don't worry about. I've been there before and knew not to click the link. No harm done.
