Description
Another idea of mine... something I'll have to devote more time to developing soon. I figured I already made a hexagon-shaped box...this one's an octagon.1a & 1b: Assistant is crammed into a cramped, octagonal box. 1a is a transparent render to show the position of the assistant.
2. Before being divided, she is skewered -- with 20 swords.
3. L-shaped blades are then shoved in from the top, dividing the box up into 4 quarters.
4. The boxes are slid apart, separating the assistant into 4 separate parts.
5. The doors on the boxes are opened, showing the punctured, divided assistant inside each box.
6. A closeup of a box containing half her head, and part of her leg.
I'll have to get around to making this into a full illusion. I modeled this today and rendered it just recently.
Modeled and rendered in Blender 2.78a with a MakeHuman female figure.
Apologies for the large file size... I wanted to show all stages in a single file.
Note: Long sword model is from Blendswap, courtesy of heraSK -- available here: www.blendswap.com/blends/view/…

Love your concepts! This is brilliant. Can’t wait to see more. And to see this in motion would be so great.

It's pretty amazing, right?

who say it needs just one assistant? for that trick you could easily use two in one box.

I like your ideas of illusions and I look forward to more such ideas and full illusions. I will wait for your works.

How about something like that but let the magician assistant lie down and face upward. Her hands and feet locked in four corner spread out wider (not just each opposite side) and disclose outside the octagonal box. Swords, light tubes or fire rods can be used to insert the box.

I might do that, but I like this design the way it is... even if it's improbable that the assistant would be that flexible to fit inside the box itself. But since it's fantasy anyway, anything really goes. Probably though, if I develop into a final design for a prop, I will change it some.

God I love this. I am a huge fan of sword boxes/cabinets, and love getting it where there are little peaks of the assistant like this. And that is one flexible assistant.

I have more that I need to work on someday, too. Some are even more strange.

I'm in awe of your ideas for illusions! Some really amazing stuff that blows the mind & has a real cool look to it. Loving this one alot!!

It's still a simple model. I'd need to develop it further, a bit. But I did a pretty quick job on it. I got in done in about 6 or 7 hours. 3D modeling is slow even in the best of times... But I've got other ideas, I want to develop too.

Well for a quick job on this, it still looks really awesome. The concept is brilliant, the presentation is stellar! I cant wait to see your other ideas because each on your reveal is another great piece!

Thanks, I appreciate it -- I still need to work on the Split tits one, and get that finished and render some scenes with Daz figures... it'll be so much more interesting, if I can get photo-realistic results.

Don't be surprised if an illusionist takes your idea runs with it. It is so well conceived!

I dunno. It would be hard to pull off in reality, but if someone could, it would be pretty interesting.

I meant part of your conceptual idea. Trying to pull off the whole thing is impossible. But I still think you got something there.

That's what I aspire to -- photorealistic illusion renders. Daz figures rendered in Blender with Cyclees can be very, very realistic. Here's a good example (not my work) --
I've got a few dozen designs I've not finished a load of files I need to go through. I also have a bunch of old files from Wings3D I need to go through and work on, and export into Blender, or redo. Some are strange.

DDDAAAAAAMMNNNNN!!!! That is insane how amazing & real it can look. You illusions in that style one day would melt my brain!
Oh wow, a backlog of sorts. You say weird but I'm sure they are all winners. I hope you share them with all of us eventually. You really do create some phenomenal work

Yep, that's Cycles for you. It's amazingly powerful. It can compete with the best commercial renderers out there, even though it's open source and bundled with Blender (which is also open source). The nodes setup for materials is very interesting. It allows a flowchart-like setup to create textures and object materials. It's really sophisticated.
edit: on a related note, what I really want to try is animation. I'd love to do a vertical sawing animation, of a woman cut in half, head to crotch ... or vise versa

Thats some real crazy powerful stuff! I hadnt heard about it till you mentioned it. Really amazing what it can do. I would be utterly lost, I dont know how to use any of that.
Oh animation would be crazy awesome! I'm sure animation must be insane to do but that would be incredible to see one day. Love that vertical sawing idea, one you dont really see enough of

Yeah, Cycles is one badass rendering engine. It's capable of dead-real imagery. Check this out. Again, not my work, but a stunning example of what it can do.
This is really amazing. It's entirely computer generated!
And this is a comparison of Cycles (on the right) vs Daz's Iray. Cycles is a lot better.

I know, it's dead-real. Can't tell the difference between it and a photograph. You should search for "Blender render" in 3D art, here, or "Blender cycles" or "Blender realistic" ...there's a lot of these kinds of artworks. I'm not quite there, yet, but I hope to improve as I keep at it. It takes time to develop skill with that program. Especially since Blender has a learning curve that's a mile long...

True. It's taken me a while but now I'm pretty comfortable with the interface, which is really complicated. Anyway, I just added a favorites folder for Blender renders... for the more interesting ones I've found.

Looks like you'd need a pretty flexible assistant to fit in there at least somewhat comfortably.

Who said she'd have to be comfortable? LOL. If I render them as part of a scene, I could just say the assistant is flexible...
