They should have ended it in the third series. . . Dovepaw was completely unnecessary. . . It's actually really lame that Hollyleaf isn't the third cat. . . Β

Not really, it would have been left unfinished if they left it as just the third series... the actual end is more satisfying, and I never really liked Hollyleaf, her mind was so closed off to obeying the warrior code that she questioned everything and made bad decisions because of it. Dovepaw pretty much replaced Hollyleaf to be the third power and while you see her as unnecessary, I don't, as she was needed to complete the prophecy that Hollyleaf could not. While I didn't particularly like Dove and Ivy, Erin Hunter made them because no power suited Hollyleaf. I could see her being the Leader type, once she matured of course but I can see why no power suited her, she was just not as open minded as her siblings and especially Jayfeather who liked to abuse his powers while Hollyleaf focuses too much on following the code to see that she held more power than it.

I just feel like it was used as Β a way to further extend a series that was better left finished long ago. You have to admit, that series was too drawn out, which made it repetitive at times. I don't even agree with the way Firestar died. . . I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a DIE hard WARRIORS fan. . . But that fourth series rubbed me the wrong way. I loved Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze, and was upset and annoyed when they killed off Hollyleaf, only to bring her back and have her replaced, then have her killed again. . .And how can cats that are a;ready dead be killed again? That whole Dark Forest thing. . . Just. . . Why? You gotta admit, nothing beats the original series, it all went downhill from there. . .Β

The third series left too many questions unanswered... and if you want a good ending, it would have ended back in the second series or even the first. The third series by no means had a fulfilling end... they already introduced the dark forest, Tigerstar's plan and whatnot, why should it end there when nothing is resolved? And do you have to question how a spirit can die again? I didn't. Otherwise one would question why they have spirits you can talk to in the first place. Its based of cats who have human-type feelings who can heal, talk to the dead and travel back in time. Its fantasy, much like anime that usually make no sense.
Those spirits only exist because they are remembered, there were plenty of dead cats from ancient times who were fading and sooner or later, fade into nothing. [If I remember correctly, Yellowfang explained that to Jaypaw] I'm sure the fourth series rubbed a LOT of people the wrong way, I continued reading because I like Jayfeather and Warriors in general, but Dove and Ivy never bothered me to the point I think them unnecessary. They were annoying, much like Hollyleaf at some point, but I understood their views and personality approach, as annoying as it was.Β
And you have to understand that a popular series will always be drawn out, unless the Author puts a strict stop to it. It would have very well ended with Scourge and Tigerstar dead back in the first Arc. But it became so popular that The Erins would make more and more until they came to an absolute end. In this case, Tigerstar dying. Its very much like the Pixar Move, The Incredibles. They, at the time would never make squeals, but because a part 2 is in such high demand, they caved in to the fans and are working on a part 2.
The time of Firestar may be the end, but Warriors are still ongoing with 'Dawn of the Clans' That only meant Erins had no more to add after the end of Tigerstar... well, beyond the end anyways. So even in that, they continue to 'extend' the series, only this time, with new cats. With the exception of Halfmoon and her Tribe.

Β Β Β The third series only left so many unanswered questions because they were prepping for the fourth. My only issue with having a fourth series is Hollyleaf. They shouldn't have killed her. They killed her SO they could make a fourth series, then bring her back, then kill her again. I just love the three littermates, and I love Hollyleaf, they were an excellent addition to the series, but Β then: oh never mind Hollyleaf, you aren't special, just kidding guys! They they throw in this new cat, Dovewing, who is not very connected to Jayfeather and Lionblaze. . . The three of them just never shared the connection that Lionblaze, Jayfeather, and Hollyleaf shared. . . Β
Β Β Β The fourth series was a train wreck, and it would be hard to convince me otherwise. While I see why it was "necessary", it could have been done better, or the third series could have been extended (or have longer books so there could be more story to one book), thus having no need for a fourth series. Β
Β Β Β I have no idea what you are talking about with the Pixar thing. . . But it's not at all true that good series are always dragged out. Take Harry Potter for example, what would have happened if those books were dragged out? They wouldn't have been as good and they wouldn't have been as special because there would have been more books. A good author needs to know when its time to end a series, or even a solo book for that matter. You cannot drag a series on forever simply because its popular. Also, in the Last Hope, everything ends so suddenly. Everyone forgives everyone and lives happily ever after? Years of pain and betrayal and its all just forgiven? Hmm. . . I can see and understand why Brambleclaw finally understands and forgives Squirrleflight. . .Β
Β Β Β I have not read any of the "Dawn of the Clans" books. It's all kind of too much to keep up with now ya know?Β
Β Β Β By the way, I just wanted to let you know that I'm not bashing any of your views. I respect them. Just haven't had a good old fashion WARRIORS conversation in a LONG time

I figured it was because you're a Hollyleaf fan, I never liked her but I did have a problem with her dying. Its too bad, but it happens in wars, at least she redeemed her dignity in the end. And its because Erin Hunter didn't know what power to give Hollyleaf that she created Dovewing, and of course they wouldn't share a deep connection like that, they aren't siblings who went through a lot of stuff.
They have always had a "6 book per arc" basics going on with Warriors, and with Erin in general, as all her other series that I can recall have 6 books per arc. Survivors and Seekers being the same. Its just the way it is.Β
That's why I said a 'Strict Author'. Some will continue to develop stories as they go while others have the whole story planned out already from beginning to end and know what they want. In Erin's case, Warriors is being dragged out, not that I'm complaining because even with characters like Dovewing or Hollyleaf, or Crowfeather and Leafpool, its still a nice pass-time I enjoy. Its a kids books, so I don't care if they drag it on or changed this and that. The books itself is okay, not the greatest story in the world, but I enjoy it none-the-less and I usually forget about the crappy things and focus more on the good sides. The only thing that take me away from Warriors are the fandom, it gets tiring and I almost just prefer reading and not drawing it, but every once in a while I like to think a character fits a song. And yeah, the ending was rushed, nothing more to say bout that.
I don't know about keeping up, a book comes out every 3-6 months or more, and I am usually up to date because I don't read much anything else. And there are times I have to take a break from staring at a screen 24/7. I can read when im bored or when I'm out, so I find it easy to keep up, but that's just me. I especially like reading in the toilet >.> But I sure don't go out of the way to buy the book, I just buy it when I happen to go a mall with a bookstore and they have the book on the shelves. But I just like the fact I can read more about the Clans being formed, even when things aren't the same from when it was first mentioned in other special books.
I can't share your enthusiasm =7=, im surrounded with Warriors 'discussions' but its mostly on youtube...

I am a Hollyleaf fan. . . I just adore the original three. . . So much character dynamic there. I feel that she had a lot of potential that the authors never developed on. I feel like she was the leader type, what with her dedication and deep understanding of the WARRIOR code. I feel like that is way more useful than a cat (Dovewing) who can "see" things that are really far away. I actually feel like they tried too hard to give Dovewing a special power.Β
It is interesting to see how the characters have continued to change and develop through all four book series. THAT I did like. At least the authors proved that they were willing to change things, and I guess killing off Hollyleaf kind of proves that no cat is invincible (and then they killed Firestar but I mean, it was wayyy beyond his time sooooo I can't be upset about that!)
As for keeping up with them, I just don't have as much time to read anymore as I would like to. With college, job, and a boyfriend, life is pretty busy and I don't have a lot of down time to read. . .I would kind of like to maybe try out a Dawn of The Clans book though, are they any good? Β

I did see her as a Leader type, but she is so close minded to obeying the code, that it wouldn't have worked in the long-run, she would kill just to keep true to the code. A leader would have to be more forgiving I guess
I don't know if they are any 'good' but I enjoy reading them.

Honestly, i think her power would be seeing visions from the future, it sounds cool in my opinion and it seems to fit her since she is the most mature out of the three in my opinion and i watched Fairy Tail and Wendy's cat thingy can see into the future and she's pretty mature so yea... I just think the mature ones are more likely to see into the future...
