Description Despite the fact that my right hand just died doing this; I gotta say. LOTSA MISTAKES EVERYWHEREQAQ

school work; had to scan it in for blogpost submission and so I'm submitting a cropped version here; cos the other half was so hideous I can't even comprehend how ugly it is;_; (and having to submit the whole version was bad enough for my perfectionism; so DA's out of bounds.) A carpet store in a place called Arab street in singapore.

But then again, nothing to blame it on except my own laziness and carelessness.

Though, I'm quite happy about this picture. Not because I think it's perfect or what not; On the contrary I see mistakes everywhere as aforementioned.. But because after this picture; I confirmed that my ability in drawing is not purely due to lack of ability; but lack of patience. Details are a pain in the ass to do. But I can do them if I want to. And this picture made me safely tell myself; "you don't have to be afraid of drawing backgrounds anymore!"

But of course this is just for perspective drawings. And this isn't the only one I attempted. Other than this 1 point perspective picture; I also attempted a 2 point perspective picture of a mosque near arab street; I was just drafting it when I realized; "I need to draw something IN arab street; not something NEAR it." Before starting on this one. But the drafting stages was enough to tell me that I probably won't have much problem finishing, provided that if I have the time to. Since it's only just converging perspective lines along with adding details. I won't say I mastered perspective; course not. But after this picture I have a lot more confidence then I had before; which is why I'm happy. It's a little breakthrough in my head.

And this is the intellectual bullshit (as quoted from a senior long time agoXD) that went along with the blogpost. *thought of it while drawing this.* (its a requirement so...)

So what's the connection between the two? (read title)

Arab street, popular tourist attraction as it is; is something that would not disappear in merely ten years. Better yet, it would continue to flourish and serve as part of the many cultures and heritage that Singapore has. Whether it is for reminiscence or monetary's sake.

However, as the current us advance forward to the future, we walk on the paths and pavements created by our ancestors; never stepping foot on grass or feel the stench of mud on our soles. Therefore; we do not know hardship; nor have as much dedication as compared to our forefathers. The carpets of arab street; beautiful and fine as they are, yet how many people with the knowledge are left to create them? Better yet; how many of them are willing to? Passing down the knowledge is one thing; having the dedication, is another. With the current generation so focused and reliant on what the past has offered; We can't bear to endure the same hardship and tediousness that our forefathers had to go through when creating a single carpet. For we have grown so used to our easy and convenient lifestyle that lesser and lesser of us have the will to make it. A similar but more "close to life" analogy would be the job of a cleaner. As people become more accustomed to their educated and rich lifestyles; lesser youngsters would even learn to do simple daily chores like sweeping the floor by the age of 18. Ten years from now; there would probably be even lesser people who would take on the job of a cleaner; the old retiring by then; the young preferring more yielding and or convenient job alternatives. Back to the carpets; ten years from now. How many of the descendants of these carpet makers would choose to continue the line; tedious as it is; and with better job prospects within reach?

So I wonder, how many of these beautiful carpets would be left, ten years later in the future; Due to lack of dedication and laziness. And I'm sure that-- carpets are not all I'm referring to for this scenario.

mr shawn; I hereby apologize for not doing my drawing homework. NE and 3D modeling ate my life. No, I won't be able to submit them tomorrow either.

orz.

Sorry to everyone whose comments I have not replied to as well... I thought weekends would make me more free, but guess not... I was shocked at how I manage to crash sleep from 6pm to 10am next morning, skipping dinner and all; but then again; knowing what a tedious week this is; not surprised again.

now, excuse me while I go back to 3D modeling...

if you're a technical person when it comes to drawing it'll be easierXD As compared to relying 100% on gut feelings;cos sometimes they don't workXD

for those curvy circle thingies at the middle? Yea, I was regretting and going--"oh shit."XD

And that I was too lazy to head towards art friends to buy new pens that day-- all the pens I bought at the school bookstore turned out to be unsuitable so had to use whatever i have lol orz *once again laziness*=w=;;
