Was intended to be a creature that could spawn the legends of selkie and mermaid alike, so you're not entirely wrong. Stole the name used for another mythical aquatic denizen. Hiki drew a male of the species.

Ah, I see. I've read a bit about merrows and selkies in general. (I like faerie legends myself. Find them very interesting.) I'd almost forgotten about merrows until I saw the title and had my memory jogged. heh

It certainly looks like an interesting being. I'd love to see the female. (:
