I have no idea~ I'm not the one who came up with it lol however if you look on google you get a lot of hits with áutomail' but not with 'automel' so I guess it's automail anyway o_o'

haha well you can say its a new version of the "automel" XD
but the picci itself is so damn cute ^^
and i like the fact that they wear casual clothes, especially Edd, cuz the colors are same as his outfit in the original story ^^ (well excpet the jeans, but i can use my imagination and to think of the pants as leather ^^)

i actually read a fma doujinshi where all of them wetre in "our" world rhough i think only ed (and maybe al too) could remember about the past in the world of alchemy, the other one had the same face same name but different charachters
well i dont want to agree on the characterparts, but the idea is quite nice X3
