There is actually a theory ( that I agree with because there is a lot of evidence to support it) that peridot doesn't know she's evil, and she thinks the crystal gems are evil.

That would actually make sense. From the Homeworld-affiliated gem's perspective, their actions aren't evil because they don't see why they would be considered "wrong". They probably don't see the negative connotations to their actions that the Crystal Gems see. It's not a case of them being straight up "evil" so much as their concepts of "acceptable" and "unacceptable" are completely diffrent.
