I meant to have this up for Mother's day, but lifer intervened.I hope you and your mums/moms had a nice one!
I find this to be a very sentimental sort of piece. I don't really draw Lily and James all that often. I drew them tons like 7 years ago or so, but not anymore. *shrug* That was even before I had this website! FREAKY!
So, I used that new texture technique that I've been sing in my pieces lately. I really like it.

I put the drawing in its own layer in photoshop.
I set the layer to 'multiply' which makes it see through.
Then I get textures from all over- some are from photos I have taken, and others from websites that sell wallpaper for houses.
I put those textures on different layers.
and TADA! textures!!!

I can't stop looking at this. It's a wonderful handiwork. I've just begun playing with Photoshop, so may I ask how you fill your drawings (i.e. Lily's dress) with patterns (i.e. her pretty pink-ish floral desgined dress)?
I really love your style of drawing and I admire your particular use of Photoshop. Fantastic work.

I don't work all that differently now. The main difference is I just do it in a different order, and have more layers of non-multiplied shading etc.
To do the pattern work, here's how I do it.
I set the layer where my line work is to 'multiply.'
Then, on another layer that is set to 'normal' I paste in the pattern. Sometimes I'll repeat the same pattern multiple times.
