Description
Her exact title was never given, but she supposedly worked within the ministry for the rights of non-humans and others- so I figure she became a Secretary of something or other... Perhaps a new branch in the Law Enforcement for social rights.I tried to get her 'skinny ankles' in there- hah- I have to say, Aunt Muriel was so funny...
Anyways- Hermione's clothes are influenced by Victorian and 1940's clothing- more Victorian up top, and 1940's in the skirt and proportion- back to Victorian in the boots.
I figure that as Hermione spends more time in the wizarding world, she learns more about those wonderful spells they have to make high heels more comfy than muggle high heels (though they never are quite as comfy as flats, of course- magic can only do so much to decrease the suffering we women go through to look pretty.)
You can't really see it, because these clothes hide it well, but I see hermione as being a bit more on the pearshaped side- so as she ages, her bum is one of those few palces she gains in- as I picture her as being one of those naturally slim people who doesn't need to work out much in order to have their silhouette.
Yes, here hair has her wand sticking out of it.

She is now Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry. I doubt Hermione would ever settle as someone's secretary, unless she needed the money, or couldn't find another job. She loves being in charge and bossing people about and arguing with them. She's got too much passion to be a secretary, she is organized, but she would want to get involved with the work she filing, or the incidents she was hearing about. It would drive her nuts.

Isn't "Secretary" used more for U.S. Cabinet departments? Wondering what it would be like if she moved to the U.S. Department of Magic.

Yes. It's also used for the UK Cabinet departments. Where do you think we got the titles from?
They didn't really have titles shown in the HP books- they were listed as 'Head of 'whatever magical department'- but I figure they all had titles of some sort.
*shrug

Wow. Apparently even the UK Cabinet calls its ministries "Departments" now. Well, most of them anyway.

Ahhh, right. I looked it up: the title used is actually "Secretary of State" although I thought it would be "Minister" seeing that the Cabinet is composed of ministries in any case. Which gets me thinking though. Is the Ministry of Magic subordinate to the UK Cabinet as a whole - or is it like a parallel government handling the magical population or something?

Secretary is a title- not an occupation. 9_9
Ever heard of Secretary of State and things like that in our government?
They aren't receptionists. They are heads of important departments.

Me too- I picture her finally becoming head at a later time- mostly putting it off until 1) she could get a lot of reorganizing and awesomeness done for the rights of others in different departments 2) the kids are older (because I imagine it's hard enough making time for them when you're a super busy super important government official- much less, head of Magical Law Enforcement.)

I always thought skinny ankles were better than cankles. I like the idea of her being pear-shaped. I definitely can't picture her being top-heavy.

Oh, I love her coat! The Victorian style really sets off Hermione's personality I think ^^
They would so have a spell to make shoes more comfortable...like an air cushion or something, lol.
