Meanwhile, Martha was approaching her and Sami’s lamps. Martha wasn’t sure, if a genie could summon a fellow genie, but she took the chance and rubbed Sami’s lamp anyway. The lamp started to vibrate and a blue mist flowed out of it. The mist formed into the shape of a young man of Middle Eastern decent although Sami is really several hundred years old.

“I’m the Genie Sami...he started to introduce himself. Oh it’s you! Sorry, I can’t grant you a wish. You’re a genie too.”

“I know. But that’s not why I’m here. I have some questions I hope you can answer.” Martha explained.

“Alright, let’s talk inside. We’re better not being seen.” Sami turned into smoke again and returned into his lamp, followed by Martha.

The interior of Sami’s lamp was quite different from Martha’s home. The basic shape was similar and the walls were also glowing, but in a blue light. But Sami had redecorated the room with some items from the 19th century. Sami offered Martha a seat. “What do you want to talk about” he asked friendly.

“Sami, can a genie be punished, if she breaks the rules?” Martha asked hasty.

“If you’re talking about mortal rules and morals, you shouldn’t worry about that.” Sami explained. “You’re a genie now and human morals don’t apply to you anymore. It is your decision if you stick to them. But let me tell you this: Many humans, which had been turned into genies, have big difficulties to cope with being a slave to their masters as well as with being forced to violate whatever morals they follow. Best is to accept that you are no longer human. So abandon your morals and have some fun in twisting the wishes!”

“That’s not what I meant!” Martha answered. “You told me, that genies were not supposed to mess with the mind of mortals. Does this mean that genies will be punished if they break that rule?”

“In ancient times, that could have been happened. Back then, a genie could be punished for breaking one of the genie laws. There are stories of Genie Lords, who locked away genies in bottles. Or which took away their powers, leaving them but powerless ghosts. In fact, you’re basically still bound to these rules. But I doubt that you’ll be punished nowadays. Still I wouldn’t mess with a mortal mind.” Sami concluded.

But Martha wasn’t eased at all. “I... I...” she scatted when suddenly her arm became transparent. A few seconds later, Martha had faded out of the lamp...
