Description
Martha woke up in Sami's lamp. Sami was lying next to her in a bed that he created for them. His arm gently hung over her side. When she stirred, Sami woke up too. "Morning, Sami!" she said "Did you sleep well?""Yes. And you?"
"Me too. Thank you for letting me stay with you last night." Martha sighed. "I needed a friendly ear after what happened during the last days."
"You're welcome." Sami caressed Martha's belly. "Honestly, I envy you for being a free jinn, even if it was only for a few days."
"I'm not sure if it was a good experience. Now I'm bound to my lamp again and I still have to grant stupid wishes."
"Don't get me wrong, Martha, but I'm glad you aren't a free jinn now."
Martha gave him a disturbed look. "What do you mean?"
"Even as a free djinn, you couldn't free me. Only a human could do that; by a wish, most likely." Sami said. "If you would be a free jinn and I'm still a bound genie, we would most likely be separated, soon. And I don't want to lose you."
Martha turned around and looked Sami in his face. "Sami, if you had been in my place, would you have taken advantage of Babette's wish? Would you have used the chance to free yourself?"
Sami thought for a moment. "I've been enslaved for so long, I guess I would have taken my chance."
Martha turned away from Sami. "I couldn't have done that to Babette. She's my friend. Sure, if she had decided to stay a genie when the 72 hours were up, I'd have stayed a free jinn. But she doesn't want to be a genie anymore. And I respect that. If you had some human friends, you would understand, too." She turned to Sami again. "Maybe a few more human friends would do you good."
"I'm not so sure about that." Sami replied. "What would they be for, anyway?"
Disappointed, Martha turned away from him again. "It's time to go. I have to be at the reception soon."
Sami put his hand on her shoulder, but let her slip under it. "Will we meet this evening, again?"
Martha was standing now. "I'm sorry, Sami, but I've promised David to see him this evening. He's still suffering because of Amelia. I'll keep him company. That's what friends are for." Martha blinked herself into her working attire.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Sami asked just as she was about to leave the lamp.
"What do you mean?" Martha looked down at herself. Everything seemed fine to her.
"What about your skin color? A green-skinned receptionist will surely raise questions.
Martha blushed a bit. "Right. I'll have to disguise myself as a human first." She blinked and her skin took her former flesh color.
"When will I see you again?" Sami asked
"I'll come back to you as soon as I find the time." Martha waved goodbye to Sami, turned into smoke and left the lamp.

I want to tell you how much I've enjoyed your stories of Martha the genie. The creativity in the stories and the growth of the characters is a joy to read.
Based on the title and this opening chapter, it feels like we are coming up to a key moment.
Can't wait for the next chapters!

Thank you very much, also for the fave. It's not easy to keep this level of quality (especially since I can't work on the stories 24/7)
The centerpiece for this story will be the third chapter. So, there will still be some build-up in chapter two comming first.

Yeah. It also shows that Martha considers her green skin as normal now.
