Yeah, he's not a SPARTAN. If anything, I doubt a flight suit would protect against a reactor going critical.

I like how he was warning the Phantoms to get away.

And even then, the MJOLNIR didn't help too much either. :V

That was pretty lolz. :V

Indeed. Poor Hot-Shot and Proto... Well maybe not so much Proto.

Woohoo, Blind Spartan-II and a Spartan-II who died, but sold his soul to Chaos so now he's enacting out the will of Chaos by well... Brining Chaos to the NET. :V

"Uhh, we'll get you fitted for Cybereyes, Shot."

"As for you, Proto... Just try not to turn into a Daemonhost. We don't have any Inquisitors on board."

What's a daemonhost again? :V

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hiyama In reply to Hiroplex [2011-03-25 03:29:51 +0000 UTC]

People who become possessed by daemons. Usually they just bust out into the material world to do whatever, but sometimes by choice or force they stay in the body and use it... Give it weird abilities and sometimes mutations.

Some more radical Inquisitors make their own Daemonhosts by summoning one to the body, and then using sacred items to trap the daemon there, pretty much giving them one as a servant. This is... frowned upon, to say the least.

Hiroplex In reply to Hiyama [2011-03-25 03:55:35 +0000 UTC]

So it's hardcore demonic possession. That sounds like Proto.

Course, I'm not sure if that's really him, and maybe he's scared the daemon so much he's bent its will to serve him instead? ',:V

Yeah, I can see how the Imperium would have a problem with summoning demons as slaves.

Hiyama In reply to Hiroplex [2011-03-25 12:56:07 +0000 UTC]

Scaring a daemon? I dunno, it'd be tough for even a super-soldier to frighten an incarnation of the cumulative negative emotions and experiences of the galaxy. Maybe it's amused with him, and is listening... for now.

Yeah, those Inquisitors tend to get purged hard. Even if they are binding the daemons to fight other daemons.

Hiroplex In reply to Hiyama [2011-03-25 21:49:04 +0000 UTC]

Amused, perhaps the daemon and him simply work cooperatively, knowing they have similar ulterior motives and methods. Or maybe Proto and the daemon are one and the same. o_o

It's like being a warlock, expect instead of it just being background lore, people really do hate you! :V

Hiyama In reply to Hiroplex [2011-03-26 02:05:48 +0000 UTC]

It's possible... Some Daemons are pretty reasonable creatures. It'd likely either be an undivided Daemon, or one of Tzeentch... Khorne would be the other likely candidate but he'd be getting Proto to BURN MAIM KILL too much.

Yeah, only thing is that if you just up and summmon a Daemon it'll just kill you. Hence the need to bind it to a host.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hiroplex In reply to Hiyama [2011-03-26 08:36:50 +0000 UTC]

Tzeentch seems highly likely, on the other hand, we know Proto is pretty icy-cold and merciless too. Not to mention sadistic at times. Either way, he seems to know a fair bit about Chaos and every God too. The fact he also seems to have had his sense of touch and pain removed (Probably on his own accord, from eons of combat, or maybe as punishment), as well as his sadism also points a bit to a certain other God.

Yeah, daemon summoning doesn't sound like a good party trick. :V

Gawrsh, it seems like he has elements of all four in there! Most likely Undivided, in that case.

Unless he made deals with all four gods. O_0

Gah, SPARTAN pawn of Chaos is a frightening prospect.

He's a real fanatic, too cool for one God. :V

Might have. Oh God.

Demonic Eternal Super-Soldier. Sounds like something that keeps Space Marines up at night.

Hiyama In reply to Hiroplex [2011-03-28 14:05:55 +0000 UTC]

If he wasn't a named Spartan, I'd say no more than Traitor Marines that fell to Chaos.

Considering that Marines live to fight, they'd probably relish an opportunity to PURGE THE HERETIC.

Demon Spartans! Run for the hills!

And then Proto took on an entire combine'd squad of Space Marines.

He won. Then bled out. :V

That was a Crowning Moment of Awesome for Proto, considering how much he hates the Imperium.

Hiroplex In reply to Hiyama [2011-03-31 09:38:14 +0000 UTC]

The crazy thing was only the squad captain managed to land a hit on proto. Wasn't it that he impaled Proto with his energy/power(?) blade, then proto took the blade out and fought them off with it? :V

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hiyama In reply to Hiroplex [2011-03-31 14:18:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I believe the Sergeant was the only one able to wound Proto (As power weapons ignore Proto's Feel No Pain). Proto proceeded to wrench the sword out of himself and take out a good chunk of the squad.

Toughness 6, 3+ Armor/4+ Invuln/4+ FNP = Invincible (Mostly)

Hiroplex In reply to Hiyama [2011-04-01 09:29:57 +0000 UTC]

Oh God. He just went God of War on their asses. The was definitely a moment of "Oh shit, this gun be gud" after Proto got hint once, took one look around the squad and beserked. Then in about 2 or 3 turns, whole squad = gone. :V

Fuck, I think he's just a tad too strong. :V

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hiyama In reply to Hiroplex [2011-04-01 11:43:09 +0000 UTC]

Pretty much, though at this point I'd drop all the Phantoms' Strength and Toughness a point. 5/5 was a bit much.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hiroplex In reply to Hiyama [2011-04-02 00:08:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that'd probably work better. The Phantoms breezed through everything and really didn't feel like they were in any danger/facing great odds. I think nerfing them would be good, plus they'd behave more like a well-coordinated team if they actually had to worry about being hit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hiyama In reply to Hiroplex [2011-04-02 01:02:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Plus it'll mean that Guardsmen will actually be a threat as opposed to a minor annoyance. When it takes a tank to present some danger, they might be a little OP. Also, they'll be on more equal footing with SPESS MEHREENS.

There's also an in-universe reason for the nerf: No more Swarm powers.
