LANCER dropped its original tags and identification when it entered the Operation Armageddon, being the de facto leader of the NET's newly formed Shadow Guard, an elite faction designed to hunt down groups and organizations deemed to be 'anticitizens.'

LANCER itself is shrouded in mystery, some say that it is the former Spartan-612, who was heralded as a hero in the Swarm Wars 15 years ago. Others say it is a machine that was designed to hunt down Anticitizens to assure the complete domination of the NET, hence it's almost complete obsession in hunting them down.
