Description
Species NameAlphyn
Average Lifespan
30 years
Region
Ranges from the western mountains of the Northern continent, the mountains of the Western continent and throughout the northeast of the Eastern continent.
Behavior
Alphyns are very elusive creatures, which is surprising thanks to their size. They prefer a life of little to no contact with humans or Elves, and have been known to be quite aggressive toward them. Most of the Alphyn's life is spent in solitude until they reach sexual maturity and seek out a mate. Males are extremely hostile toward one another, and only small groups of females have ever been encountered in what one might refer to as a pack. However, upon mating, the male and female never leave each other's side Both male and female Alphyns are not to be underestimated as their sheer size and strength coupled with their rather aggressive tendencies can often mean trouble for wary travelers or foolish hunters.
Description
Alphyns are extremely strong creatures. Originally, they kept to the mountains and only recently began to move down into the foothills and forests. Alphyns of the north are often larger, and have short tails. Their fur is lighter in color and thicker thanks to the snowy climate. Those who inhabit the other continents are much darker in color and slightly more aggressive. Light colored fur is a rarity save in the north, and most commonly Alphyn coats range from black or deep brown to tans. Male and females mate for life, and are extremely protective of one another, and even more so, their pup. Because of their overall body mass, these beasts are extremely hardy, but not very fast. Adapted to be opportunists, Alphyns are omnivores, much like bears, but prefer a diet of fish or small mammals. Because of their nature, Alphyns are not often kept as pets or mounts.
For use in only.

I would have a different version of the Alphyn chart.
