I like to think that the Doctor has something like this, a wardrobe, somewhere only he can get to, filled with the clothing of his previous regenerations. The only times he opens it is after he regenerates, so he could put the last reminder of his previous self away, a keep sake that he'll not look at again because he doesn't like to linger on the past.
