Description I was milling through my old stash files and found this.
It's from spring of last year so it might be a little bumpy and rusty, but I lost the motivation to color it a long time ago and it feels like a shame not to share it.

I would really appreciate it if no one tried to trace and use this. THIS IS NOT A BASE.
Just something rough and fun.
I will of course not turn away tips and tricks from other artists on how to improve, but bear in mind this is very old.

If you want some tips i can surely critique it for you, your line work is beautiful, the way you hold your volumes consistent is great. The only advice is add more frames in the begining and end, watch your slow ins and slow outs. The paws in the back slide around as he begins to howl and the paws up front slide on his way down.  Honestly you just need to add more frames and watch the sliding feet. are you animating on 1's or 2's?  I feel like here you used 3's to animate.

This is however, an amazing piece, needs some polish but its pretty well done. id love to see it completed.

In animation, it's best to keep the feet grounded if they're not moving, so I'd recommend drawing the feet on a static layer and moving everything else, if that makes sense. Overall this is nicely done, the key movements are wonderful! Could use some further inbetweening, but it's quite good

I think this looks pretty nice! I really like the tail and the frame where the tip is turns toward the viewer? idk it's just very cool.

I only poke at animation a little bit so don't have much in the way of tips besides practice! if you're interested, I've heard the animator's survival kit is a really good book but I haven't picked it up yet myself.

Thank you! I'm a big fan of how nice that "tail flip" turned out.
ACTUALLY I have that! Mostly just for fun bored reading and flipping through. I'm not serious about animation and its mostly for fun. But I agree it's an amazing book

Wonderful job!
Im no way a professional but something I found interesting was to use multiples of the same frame from a slower part of the motion. That way you can speed up the animation to make the fastest points as quick as you like without blitzing through something slower.
Sorry if that doesn't make sense or apply here, it's just too fun of a trick to NOT share

Could you elaborate? I think I know what you're saying, but I already did that in this animation.
Probably not as thoroughly as I could have, but I lost interest after a while because of how much is moving on the subject xD

Well since I don't own animation software, I use an online gif maker.
there I'm able to upload doubles of say the beginning, slowly lowering his head. You'd add the same frame several times for anything that's NOT the fastest motion(in this case lifting his head to howl, I'd guess) to in a way draw out the frame. That way the actual animation speed would only actually be the fastest part. That way you can impact the speed of all parts yet everything is still fluid.

It actually looks like you may have done that already but hey, it's a sneaky trick

Oh! Yup, I did that. It's a very fun little trick!
