Description Watercolor using Daniel Smith paints particularly the irridescent colors.

What is a Mojo Fish? He is a a fish which swims through the world collecting prayers, good wishes, and other forms of good mojo and then amplifies and focuses these wishes on those who are in need.

How did mojo fish come into being? He was a result of a discussion on a Firefly board concerning one person fishing for some good mojo before having a test to see if her cancer had progressed or was going into remission. In the nature of online communication, somehow, fishing for people to send her good mojo turned into a mojo fish. I liked the concept so much that I had to paint one.

I just came back to revisit mojo fish. Not needing the mojo myself at the moment. I just thought he might be lonely.

Gosh yes, I'm great. Just had a vacation after months of working nights and weekends. Found out today they have finally hung my fractals permanently in the Math Department of Longwood University. I have a new car as my old one became a very large paperweight. Its a Kia Soul in the color of Alien green. I love it and it really suits me.

Hey,
I tried to leave a comment last night but my computer kicked me offline.

I went through about 20 pages of your gallery and all I could find was fractal art. I didn't even know what fractal art was. I think you should paint more though.

I like your brushstrokes a lot. I think they are really confident. I also really like the irridescent gold. I never seen it in watercolor before. Are they only from Daniel Smith?

The only thing I thought would improve it would be to paint the water closer to the fish, which I'm not sure why you didn't do. Okay thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for the nice words on my paintings. If you want to see more, sort my gallery by oldest first, most of the paintings are at the beginning.

Daniel Smith is the only place where I know to get my favorite shiny watercolors in an artist grade paint. There may be other places but I like the Daniel Smith watercolors so I stick mostly to them (although I have been dabbling with Holbein lately too).

As to why the water is not closer to the fish (good question), it has to do with the mojo fish sending out the good mojo energy which is why he is surrounded by white light.

I do actually have many more paintings that are not here because I'm not really a good painting photographer. Haven't done much painting lately but that's because I chose to take a digital photography class last term rather than my usual painting classes. I have three painting classs coming up for the winter sring term so there will probably be more painting soon.

Since I like abstraction, I've started using the fractals as the base image for some of my paintings, haven't been happy enough with the results to post most of those, but they will improve as I experiment more with techniques.

Even if they aren't traditional art, I hope you enjoyed the fractals too. Persisting through 20 pages of them is quite a feat.

Thank you so much for sharing this work, and for entering it in my contest. My sister is battling cancer and I sure would love to share it with her. What's the name of your Cafe Press shop?

Glad you like him, he's special to me. I send him to all my friends when they are in need of some good mojo intheir lives. Oddly, it seems to actually help. It's a very spiritual painting. And much more stunning in person, the photo doesn't really capture the irridescent paint as well as it could.

Thanks for the fav.

Thank you. Mojo fish is special to me because of the story behind him. I like to work watercolor very wet on very wet becasue you get such interesting results that way. Took along time to learn enough control that I also got what I was trying to get. Mojo fish is one of the first pieces I di dthat came out almost exactly as I had envisioned him.
