Description
On one of the MLaaTR fanboards I used to participate in I saw everyone was creating their own robots based on XJ-9. I created Alexa years ago as an android with a similar concept to Astoroby which I had seen in my youth. I have always been fascinated with robots having built several small rovers controlled by microcomputers. Building an android seemed like an impossible dream until I saw recent developments by Japanese corporations actually making androids that walk. The three foot high Asimo by Honda is close to what I would want for a personal android (you can actualy rent one for about $170,000 a year).Recent shows like My Life As A Teenage Robot has continued my interest in robots which is why I actively particiapted in the few forums that appeared when the show premiered on Nickelodeon. So it seemed natural to make my Alexa character more like an MLaaTR style robot. She could possibly be the star of my upcoming webcomic.

Yeah, she's cute. You built rovers with mini computers? How easy was that to do? (I'm planning on doing electrical\mechanical engineering in graduate school, and civil engineering for my B.S - Yay college!)

I belonged to several robotics groups online and subscribed to some tech magazines. My father was an electronic technician so I learned a lot from him. Back then I had to gather parts from all over to build small robots. Often I converted radio-controlled models to robots, the tank models being the easiest to control because of their speed. The brain was usually a mini-controller like the Basic Stamp which you could program in Basic. The most complex robot I ever owned back then was an RB5X. Today I still have my Roboscout (once sold by Sharper Image) and a robot dog, the I-Cybie. My comic and animation activities have taken time away from my robotics hobby though.
You have it good today with ready-made robot kits and controllers. Lots of reference books on the subject as well. I still have many of my online robotics links in my archive if you would like to see them.

Thank you for the comments though my Spanish is very rusty. I don't know if I'll be able to continue my "Death of Jenny" series. I have so little time as it is I would rather spend it making original art. Which is why I do so little fanart compared to the past.
If I was going to finish it I may do it as an illustrated story since trying to do an entire comic without dialogue was very challenging and time consuming developing the pages.
