Description Inspector "Gadget" - While the origins of Inspector Gadget (along with his personal records) are a tightly guarded secret, it's common knowledge that, for a time, he was one of INTERPOL's top agents.

While the official story is that "Gadget" was a heroic officer wounded in the line of duty and then rebuilt with cutting edge technology, others have their doubts. They felt that, with the sheer number of enhancements (especially inside his head), that there was no room for organics inside Gadget's body, especially given the limits of the technology at the time. They felt, instead, that he was a completely cybernetic being that thinks its a man, thanks to the memories of that fallen officer inside his head.

Some people thought that he was an expert at "playing dumb", while others believe that it's no act and that others are responsible for his success.

Whatever the case may be, no one can argue with his results.

Nor with his character. Most notably, he took on the role of a single parent, by taking in his genius niece (and her dog) and raising her the best he could.

He was a thorn in the side of Dr. Claw and the Agents of M.A.D. for years.

But, as his niece grew older and with MAD activity at an all-time low, Gadget decided to retire from INTERPOL. After all, he was the only authority figure in his niece's life and, if something happened to him, she would likely go into the foster system. (And, if the Child Protection Services knew about the dangers she was putting herself in while under his care, they'd likely remove her from the situation). And, as accident-prone and absent-minded as he was, Gadget knew that living with him was better than taking a gamble with a foster family.

And the years went by.

Gadget's niece graduated high school years earlier than expected and breezed through both college and the police academy. She had a good job and was well on her way. And Gadget was, admittedly, needing something to do by the time Trakker knocked on his door...
