Description
The Sovereign Backpack I've mentioned in my last two journals! Finally here in photos, and modeled by the lovely Steven.I've wanted a Reaper purse or backpack for a while, just for the lulz of being able to lug around a miniature mecha-Cthulhu-from-beyond-the-stars, maybe carry around my Saren plush in it for maximum appropriateness. I finally got it done just in time for the Mass Effect 3 Release, and it was a smash hit at my local Gamestop.
I picked Sovereign for my Reaper because the only other Reaper that we know who has the distinct silhouette is Harbinger, and I've played way too much ME2 to think of Harbinger as anything other than inutterably creepy and rape-tastic. Just look up the list of his battle quotes on the Mass Effect wiki sometime and you'll see what I mean. No, Harby's a creeper. The Reaper-fetus is a fetus, and it looks more "Terminator" than "Mass Effect", so I stuck with Sovvy.
I owe much to the excellent references of Troodon 80- [link] without his refs, I could never have made the necessary patterns.
Originally, my patterns were perfectly proportional, but when I decided that I wanted to be able to carry more than just pencils in it, I had to fiddle with the width and depth, which is why it looks a lot more fat and squat than you remember Sovereign being. I do still have the original, proportionate patterns, if anyone wants to use them to make a small plush or something.
Oh god, those legs were fiddly! If you look at the reference material, each set of legs is different in size and shape, so I had to sew those little indoctrinating devils by hand.
Sovereign is made of shiny black PVC cloth and electric blue thread (which sadly doesn't show up much in the pictures), a coat zipper, and poly-stuff, with an adjustable nylon strap. It took about two weeks from start to finish, and can hold quite a lot of things.
All things Mass Effect belong to Bioware, not me.

It look cool, but at the same time I can't shake the image of Harbinger snacking on your butt.

It's Sovereign; if it was Harbinger, it would just want to be a dick and- ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL.
But I get what you mean. It would probably fit higher up/better/not munch on the butt on someone who wasn't five foot tall.

Wasn't sure, 'cause Sovereign has a tentacle in the middle, while Harbinger is symmetrical, ie has an equal amount of tentacles on both sides.
Plus Harby is more into assuming stuff

Harby's shaped a little differently- he looks more like a space flea than the others do.

That... looks awesome!! Did you take it on a walk? I would love to see peoples' reaction to this.
Also, don't the tentacle thingies get a bit annoying as they poke the backside? :3

I've used it a couple of times, both to the midnight release and on a date to the zoo. I can't honestly say that I noticed the tentacles at all whether I was walking or moving or what.
At the release, everyone thought it was incredibly awesome, and at the zoo, noone noticed but a spider monkey that flipped its lid and tried to attack it through the glass.
