Description Some select-fire rifles that would have been available in the 1960's.

M2 Carbine (.30 US Carbine)
Type 56-I (7.62x39mm) (milled)
AKM (7.62x39mm) (stamped)

The Type 56 is a bit historically inaccurate, because the folding stock version didn't have a bayonet, but I wanted some additional distinguishing features.

It's an type-56-I. A chinese knock-off of the famous Avotmat Kalashnikov - 47 (AK47)

It's okay.  Stamped, imported Type-56s were available in double-folder configuration.

Is the M2 Carbine really considered an Assault Rifle? I heard a lot of bad things about the M2 and how useless it was and how much it was hated by the Soldiers using it in the Korea War.

You're right in that it's certainly less effective than the dominant intermediate-cartridge rifles that followed it.
However, it's distinct enough from the submachine gun species that I felt it belonged with the assault rifles.

Its main shortcomings in Korea were unreliability in cold weather and a lack of penetration through heavy clothing.
However, the muzzle velocity and range of .30 carbine still exceed those of submachine gun rounds, being roughly in the middle between the PPSh and Stg-44, mathematically speaking.

Well, actually the lack of stopping power wasn't the problem. The soldiers were actually firing the M2 Carbine outside its effective range, which was 150 Yards.

Still, it certainly wasn't enough the penetrate the greatcoats, despite having more stopping power than a .357, and it really was quite unreliable in cold weather. Everywhere else it was fine.

Also, curiously-some people tend to classify the Carbine as a PDW.

Very nice And mehhh who cares, it's an attachment, not a factory-standard mechanism or iron sight or something. You could buy a type 56 today and slap a bayonet on it, and that's what you've drawn here. No shame in some interesting additions of your preference
