Is it possible that mosasaurs used their tongues to find prey like monitor lizards and snakes do?

Some are considering the Skull Crawlers from Kong: Skull Island as Mosasaur descendants.

"Don´t ask me why the crazy diver brings a cage to the Mosasaurus immersion but not to the Dunkleosteu." Oh, I can answer that. The Dunkleosteus is just a fish. It's no great danger to a human. Of course, the Great White Shark and the Megalodon are just fish, too. LOL.

Por fin mosasaurus! Eso si creo que le has hecho la cola muy larga como en las primeras reconstrucciones. Ahora se cree que mediria unos 13 metros.

Heh, this diver certainly has some interesting ideas about which animals require a cage and which do not!
Would you mind if I were to write a scene taking this as inspiration?
I'd of course link back to your piece and give full credit for the inspiration.
