Description
A quick doodle of a severely underrated prehistoric monkey, Paradolichopithecus, teaching its young to walk on two legs.
Paradolichopithecus was a great macaque that has been estimated at anything from 30 to 60 kg- although normally considered to have been about as big as today's biggest mandrills (the largest monkey of our days). It had a skull similar to a baboon's, but its poscranial skeleton had some very intriguing traits that would suggest a different locomotion- some of them resembling Australopithecus, which has led to the suggestion that Paradolichopithecus walked bipedally a lot more than other monkeys, and even that it could be an example of convergence (being to other monkeys what australopithecines were to other apes so to speak).
Its arms also seem to have had greater mobility at the elbow than those of other monkeys, suggesting some special use- maybe to carry objects around or even to fight.
Paradolichopithecus lived in Eurasia during the late Pliocene and early Pleistocene. I have been wanting to draw a color doodle of this monkey for ages- I had doodled it before but was never satisfied...

So Rafiki was just a relict species from a bygone epoch all along?
