The blue is fabulous in that it is seasonally inconsistent with the colors of the rest of the piece. Goes with the subject's most wonderful smile.

I totally loved the portrait - Vigee Lebrun's women have an exuberance and confidence about them that is just wonderful.
Glad you approve of the blue - I dithered a little about whether it worked or not.

I can imagine the dither. Probably your mind was getting in the way because it is such a forceful combination. I know I dither when my eye pulls me in that direction. My mind sometimes prefers to play it safe. Well, a lot of the time it would prefer to play it safe.

And some of the time it says "whattheheck!" let's just do it anyway ...

This really is quite beautiful, I love how it almost tells a story though all the different pieces. Incredibly well done!

Love the color choice of blues and oranges, i praise your talent at putting together different elements. Very nice composition.
It must have taken you quite a while to cut out the fine details such as the twigs and wings.

Cutting out takes forever, but it's a strangely soothing activity!

I know what you mean by soothing. I spoke about it in my last journal
Making collage is creating tranquility β¦ it's soothingβ¦. as I work with colors and forms, I don't need to think in sentences.
... no need to think in sentences ... I stop the running soundtrack of my thoughts.
... to swerve away from the constant chatter of restless minds.
β¦ the process of creation itself is what most engages me. The allure of a peaceful mind is irresistible. The process is good for the soul. The act of creation itself soothes and clarifies my own center.
