A colored sketch commission for Sagethewolfblooded of HunterShadowWolf 's character Grave Thorne.Can I just say how lovely doing this was? The design is so pretty and it felt so relaxing doing it... =') And I love the design.
So... I just kept going with it trying to make it better =') So... I wouldn't consider it much of a sketch anymore... Sage/Shade, if you need it to be sketchier, I can do that
I'm pretty sure doing this also cured my art block.
I'm also pretty sure I could not do a much better background if I tried... So I am proud of this! ^-^
Can we just address one thing? I think I made him look like a god... Because his eyes look like they're glowing... =']

You call this a sketch?! This looks better than any finished piece I've ever made! It's true there is less details in the fur (for the shading like you often do in the tail), but I like it. It's like in your drawing of Shea. It looks less overloaded. But there is still enough details to make it amazing!
I love the shading and his fluffy tail! And his design is really cool (I know it's not yours, but you made it justice). The colors look really nice. And it's true that his eyes look almost surreal. Like if it was him commanding the snow storm.
And that background! I'm screaming, it looks so good! The texture of the snow is perfect. The snow falling really seems to move, and there is even the snow raising of the ground because of the wind. Like, you thought of everything and it's so well done and realistic it seems your drawing is going to get to life and start to move.
There is one thing I would point out, it's not that bad, but as well done as they both are, the character and the background don't seem to go together. Like, the character has a black lineheart and he is clear and clean. The background is lineless, very smooth and even blurry at some places. It's okay for what's behind the character and the snow falling, but these blurry ice spikes in the foreground look like they don't belong in the same drawing.
I would like to see a drawing of a character in this smooth and lineless style you used for the background. I think it would look good ^^ But I don't know if you would be able to do that (I know I wouldn't : P)

To be honest, I wouldn't really call it a sketch either
I'm so glad to hear I succeeded with the snow! =3 I spend quite a while with it, and it's such a delight to hear it's good.Β
I agree the styles don't match well. I'd say it's because I started from a sketch and ended up polishing the bg more, but I have to admit it is mostly because I don't know how to do a lineless style that fits here, and isn't overboard, while still being a "sketch".
Lineless is a hard style to actually pull off xDΒ
To be honest, if I understood your idea of a smooth, lineless style, that is actually the style I want to go for. I'Il really want to develop it when I get time, and honestly I'm really looking forward to it :0 rn I'll have to focus on all the commissions though
