Bethany had thought hard for a while. Doki island was a place of love, and although she didn’t want to admit it, she didn’t have any foot in the dating world. That’s, until, an odd match had come up on the island’s dating service. It was a match with veli. They had a rather odd relationship, sometimes messing with each other, and sometimes it being purely an all business meeting. However, she decided she should explore this match, as she had nothing better to do. And that’s how she ended up where she is now, dressed in a fancy black tux with a long red skirt, escorting Veli, who wore a mere dress shirt and pants, into the fancy restaurant.

“You know…” Bethany begins to speak.

“What?” Veli asks, hiding a tiny bit of nervousness.

“I think I’m rather excited for this lovely evening.” She gave a slight smile, heading inside.

“Me too, I guess.” Veli follows, stepping up to the reception counter with Bethany.

“Ah, two ladies, hmm?” The receptionist asks. “You have a reservation?”

“Table for two, under the last name Line.” Bethany hands him a reservation card.

“I wish you ladies a pleasant evening.” The man at the reception says, putting the card in a box.

“You too, I guess.” Veli says in a passing tone.

The two girls arrive at a rather fancy wooden table, where they sit down in rather plush chairs. Surprisingly, the receptionist rom before approached, carrying a menu. “Turns out I’m your waiter, please take these” He hands over the menus and leaves.

“Oh, this food looks lovely…” Bethany searches through the menu. “What do you think looks good?”

“Steak.” Veli says, looking at a page dedicated entirely to different cuts of it. “If that’s fine.”

“Of course, I’m paying after all.” Bethany chuckles. “But tell me, since I’m rather interested, how you take care of 3 kids.”

“Oh, you know, it’s not easy, but it is worth it.” Veli rubs the back of her head. “And how do you manage a tea shop? Just running a normal shop has its own problems. I can’t imagine it’s that easy.”

“Oh no, it’s not, but I like it. It’s rather fun. You should have a cup some time, it’s all hand blended.” Bethany gives a small laugh.

“Ah, I see. How did you find time for this, then?” Veli asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Hmm, well, I specifically set time aside. I have a pretty nifty way to make schedules.” Bethany rests her hand on the table.

They continue to have some banter, some about personal life, some about transforming wares sold at shops, and even a bit of an attempted flirty exchange. The waiter returns. “Is your order ready, miss line? And what about your date?”

“Ah, yes! I’ll have a steak, steak fries, and a gourmet burger. I’ll have lemonade as a drink, but in a wine glass. It makes me feel fancy.” Bethany chuckles.

“Wonderful selection. And you?”

“Steak and tenders. And OJ, please.” Veli states, smelling the rich aroma about them. Indeed, the smells of the seasoned meats and saucy soups were both delicious and overwhelming.

“Alright miss, ill return with your orders.” The waiter leaves with a slight smile.

“What a nice waiter.” Bethany smiles. “So, uh, do you have any weekend plans?”

“Yeah. Heard of this really interesting relic on this island.” Veli leans back a little. “Apparently belonged to some rich lady.”

“That sounds nice. I’m planning on selling valentines blends at my mobile shop. Perhaps you can have one for free.” Bethany looks about. “Don’t tell anyone else, though.” She laughs, Veli giving a slight bit of laughter as well.

As they speak, the waiter brings their food.

“Ah, finally!” Bethany looks at the steak set before her. “Ooh, it looks absolutely delicious! Definitely worth the price!”

“Looks like it.” Veli begins to eat her steak. “And it is.”

The two eat their food, and the waiter approached. “Do you both want any desserts?”

“Ah, some lemon pudding, please.” Bethany smiles.

“Hmm..Any recommendations?” Veli asked.

“I recommend the shortcake personally-“

“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!” Veli bellowed.

“S-shortcake?” The waiter was somewhat caught off guard.

“You called me short!”

Veli zapped the waiter, as their hair lengthed, and their dress pants became a skirt.

“I understand the confusion ma’am, but I was asking if you wanted any shortcake…as in the food.” The waiter, now a waitress, sighs.

“Oh...my bad…” Veli rubs the back of her head.

“I think we’ll take those desserts to go, if you don’t mind.” Bethany pipes in.

“Oh, certainly.”

And so, they prepared themselves to leave, as Bethany made sure to tip the waiter well. However, as they walked out, Bethany began to speak.

“I think that was marvelous!” She laughs.

“Really?” Veli asks.

“Yes! I can’t wait to...hang out...again…” Bethany thinks for a moment. “That wasn’t much of a date, was it?”

“I guess not, but it was still fun.” Veli admits.

“Well, that’s nice to hear.” Bethany smiles. “I guess rather than being my girlfriend, you’re way better as just my friend.”

“Hehe, I can agree with that!” Veli gives a smile.

“Well then, suppose we could go do something next month? I can invite Neko along for a girls night out.” Bethany ponders. “If that’s fine with you.”

“I guess, if she isn’t too much trouble.” Veli looks about. “See you later then?”

“Yeah. Goodbye for now!” Bethany smiles brightly, leaving Veli so she could prepare the tea for tomorrow’s business hours.
