... I want to give it a more pretentious title but I'm not good at those. XD And no, that's not a typo, it is indeed supposed to be loose and not lose.ANYWAY so I've finally had a bit of a break between commissions, and it was promptly ALL SWALLOWED UP by this picture turning out to be ginormously time-consuming and labor-intensive (not as much as Your Eden - of course, what would be? XD). But AWESOME. Yes, this picture is AWESOME, because it is Tetsuya and it is full of THOUGHT and some SYMBOLISM and COOL THINGS LIKE THAT. And also Tetsuya's hair is down, though you can't tell so much because he's trying to pull it back and tie it again (in case you couldn't figure that out - which you might not be able to, because I suck).
Overall I drew a lot of inspiration for this from =mythchan , because she has some really incredibly detailed and symbolic pictures, but I'm not trying to imitate or copy her work - I just wanted to try my hand at something with a little detail and symbolism in it myself. I hope I've succeeded without being too imitative.
I'm - not sure if I want to explain the symbolism and who the arms belong to (yes - they belong to specific characters, though I've only drawn three of them before and only one of them has a recognizable arm), because I think it'd be cool to hear people's thoughts, but at the same time I love to explain things to DEATH. So I should probably just let you guess and stuff, and maybe write up an explanation in LJ another time.

Media: Sakura microns, Staedtler brush pen, Prismacolor watercolor pencils, and touches of whiteout, Prismacolor marker, and Prismacolor colored pencil; Photoshop touch-ups consisting mostly of color correction (why does my scanner give everything a CYAN TINT?!) and some spots/paper creases removed, plus the border.

I wish I could read what was on the coins, but I think have a pretty good idea of what might be on them. XD; I'm in awe at how good you are at hands; I can never get them to look right. XD Just curious but, are the boy's hands covering his ears?

Such great ideas... I absolutely suck at putting symbolism into my work. It just ends up looking hokey. This is probably one of your best as far as technique and over all composition goes. Very nice. You must continue with more stuff like this.

okay, it took me a while to read through the symbolism in this, but wow, impressive representation of the seven sins, and the coins on their own are so very impressive. Oooh, very pretty. I love drawings with a lot of symbolism thrown in, and it's nice how I keep on finding new details in this one the more I look at it. The use of a limited amount of colour somehow just highlights the details even more, and gives the drawing an interesting mood. Luvvrly~

you really handled the inks and marker really really well, I can't help but feel really isolated when looking at this piece, because he just looks so helpless and at the mercy of all those hands. I can think of a few occassions where I've felt the same way.

The coins are the seven sins. I - uh - one day soon I'll post something that explains why each sin is with each arm! Because it's significant and - stuff.

Bah! No, I - uh - originally wasn't planning to do the coins at all and I was just going to do a crazy messy border with abstract-ish pictorial representations of the sins worked into it around each arm, and so I typed seven sins symbols or something like that into Google and one of the results was a learning-Japanese page with the Japanese kanji for each of them. So the coin idea was born!
... besides, Tetsuya is Japanese so I can get away with it. XD

Ah, so it finally comes out. I like the bottom half a hell of a lot (Especially with Tetsuya and the hands covering the mouth and such) but I'm not exactly sure about the flow of the hair at the top. I love the burned edge style edging though. Awesome job.
