Description
This is my guildwars 2008 wintersday entry. It's a monk holding a globe of Tyria looking to port using the map. The blue lady is my rendition of Dwayna the goddess of healing and water/ice. To ensure people were aware that it was Dwayna I added text basically saying that it's Dwayna.This piece took me a damn long time, and most of the things I worked on that took so long you can't even see anymore since the monk is covering up most of Dwayna.
I hope everyone enjoys it.
Edit: My bad, I must have been on no sleep when I wrote this. Dwayna isn't the goddess of water/ice, I knew this I have no idea why I wrote that.
Water was originally the jurisdiction of Abbadon, I believe. But Abbadon got greedy and then got owned by the gods, and lost his rights, so Grenth took over water.

I remember when this picture was in the contest, and it simply took my breath away when I saw it. I love everything in this picture, especially the Goddess Dwayna standing behind the female monk.
Simply an amazing job on creating this wonderful piece of art.

This is such a gorgeous piece of art, and it really does Guild Wars justice! I love the detail you put into it and all the lovely shininess of Dwayna! And the clever inclusion of the GW map is really cool too! Awesome work!

Hehe, yeah I may have written she was of water. That was a long time ago, I don't even remember. I need to look at the description I wrote.
I actually meant her to be a protecting force, looking over the monk on her journey, and at the time of me actually doing the artwork, it had been 6 or so months of me playing Guild Wars.

Heh, it was a Photoshop trick, I created patterns and just overlaid them over the wings. Much like a real texture artist would do.

hmmm.... #1, I do not have photoshop of any kind installed in my computer.
#2. I cannot draw using a compter mouse... at all...
otherwize, I'd be using digital programs to create artwork as well!
but... I like my pencils...

Well a tablet is the most important part. You can download an older version of Photoshop for free from download sites like download.com
If you ever think about purchasing a tablet, get an Wacom Intuos 3, don't get anything too big, or you will regret it. Try to stick to 6x8 or smaller.

hmmm.... what exactly is a tablet? I feel stupid asking that, but I've heard people talking about them even though I have no idea what they actualy are...
and... if I downloaded photoshop from that site, would it be legal?

Everything on download.com is legal for the most part, it has to be.
Adobe releases older versions of the product for free that no longer get sales.
A tablet is basically a board you draw on, and it transitions onto the computer just like if you were drawing on a piece of paper. It's essentially a mouse in a pen/pencil. It's pretty awesome. I thought it would be difficult to get used to, but it took me a whole 2 hours to get completely used to using it, so I'm sure it will be just as long for you.
They go for about 100-200 dollars depending on what quality and size.

I'll definatly have to check out those older downlodable versions of photoshop though! unless... do they have bad quality or something?
