Description
One of my cosplays for Kitacon, because it's going to be easy to pack and wear,, and it'll also be fun...Here's a mini breakdown for anyone who intends to make it~
The double semi circles symbolise a cut along the fold, and any part with more than one cut is noted.
As there are no additional entrances/exits to the dress, I would recommend a stretch material like a vicose/jersey or lycra
I'll be making the swimset with a high nylon content lycra. Synthetic fibres tend to dry faster and retain less water.
The original style has a thong type bottom, but I know that some people will prefer a more pantie style version (myself included)
So I have put both versions there.
The yellow circle swirl shape by the dress pattern is what creates the ruffles on the straps, cut along the marked swirl line...
Although I posted for a single cut for the swimwear, I recommend you double up the thickness and use a fabric to line it....and maybe insert padding into the bra top.....because what works IRL and in anime are too very different things.
Finally for the straps and binding of the Bikini, use a colored thick elastic...
Anymore questions, please feel free to ask I will endeavor to answer...

Just curious as to how the dress turned out? Did you find the skirt flow-y enough?

how do you make it so that the dress has pleats in it but is still a one-piece? i’ve seen some cosplayers make it a dress without a seam in the middle to connect a pleated skirt but no one seems to explain how they did it? i really dont want to make a top & a pleated skirt and then have to sew those two together, the seam in the middle is really unattractive :c

Hello!
I don't really understand the pattern piece..
I was wondering, if the pattern layout means one panel for the front of the dress and one for the back, because it looks like you've made the seams on the side of the dress?
thank you.

I understand printing out the pattern and cutting it, but how would you make it so it like fits someone? How can I make it my size instead of small pieces of paper? Sorry if this makes no sense...

Measure your body with a tape, note down your measurements (shoulders, bust, waist, hips, lengths between.)
Get a large piece of paper or make one by taping pieces together.
Mark down the relevant measurement points using a ruler.
Using the draft as a template, draw the edges in a similar shape which works for your body
All these patterns are cut to fit my bod, I used to do full blown sizing downloads but not everyone shares my bod shape and therefore it caused more trouble than it was worth.

I am wondering this as well. I need to make this as a cosplay for an event in late August, but I am unsure of how to make it into my proportions :/

oh wow I had never thought of making a ruffled trim by cutting out a swirl that is seriously so smart and saves a ton of fabric!
