Description My redesign for Jetray.

For the most part, I'm okay with Jetray; a manta-ray alien that can fly at supersonic speeds sounds like a cool idea. Unfortunately, he was significantly bogged-down by his laser-eyes and tail(which, while they were cool, didn't make much sense... unless those were part of the reason for his name), as well as his out-of-nowhere ability to fly through space(which is nowhere near this version), and unappealing design.

For my version, I tried to make him aq bit more manta-ray-like, got rid of the weird yellow horn-lips, and gave him a proper omnitrix suit(as opposed to the two black shoulder-strips). I made his tail longer, as well, and now, instead of shooting lasers(from anywhere), his tail has a stinger that can paralyze those stung for up to an hour.

Ben 10 belongs to Man of Action Studios and Cartoon Network.
Jetray belongs to Dwayne McDuffie and Cartoon Network.

Is it just me, or does this look like a design that would come from Lilo & Stitch: The Series?

Jetray is a pretty weird alien if you ask me, flying and shooting lasers isn't anything that special, but he looked cool so he's neutral to me.

To be fair, that one was just a half-breed mutation, so I'm guessing it doesn't really count(still, interesting little factoid to point-out)...

Actually, now that I think about it...ChamAlien ALSO had been missingand his race was used as a villain...

Which is kinda harsh, given Prisoner 775's rather sad backstory...

Yeah, I noticed that too; in fact, Fasttrack seemed to have been nixed for OV as well(thank God)...

What's worse is that they never, ever follow-up on it, or(knowing how dictators generally work) the possible threat the "oppressive dictator" of his home planet might pose to other worlds. Sure, it might be a retread of the Highbreed, but them's the breaks.

Eyeah...I mean...Ninja European Cheshire Chameleons with retractable blades in their tails? Thats political Assassination Dream come true for a bounty hunter!
ANd since Subdora is rom the future, she's likely from a MUCH worse place than PRisoner 775.

...Hm...IDEA! Maybe the Incursians have targetted that planet during the Incursian arc as a place to get a potential ally? I think I even got an idea for the character...since I gave Prisoner 775 the name 'Valrean' (sort of like Valjean, the main protagonist from Les Miserables) I'm kinda thinking that the dictator would be a old but VERY dangerous reptile.

Heck, I'm almost thinking maybe having Valrean give Ben and co some coordinates for where his home planet is just to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone else. In Guardians, he's got nothing to live for but stay as a 'model prisoner'...BUT he does laer help out earth during the Invasion of the Incursians.

If nothing else, I can definitely see him wanting to help fight-off the Incursians to ensure that Earth doesn't suffer the same fate as his own planet...

Yeah. Though as of Seasons 1-2, he's a model prisoner (attempted murder would get him arrested but went to a light sentence due to circumstances) who's mostly seen as a janitor of the Plumber head quarters till he can get parole

Fear him and his Pants! XP

What can I say, the pants look good XP

Though I am keeping the lasers are more for neurological blasts of energy meant more for stunning than full on killing, like you got with his stinging tail XP The tail laser is meant to be a protection from behind, I think. ;;

XD

Though in all seriousness, I am OK with Jetray...though as for his 'ability to go lightspeed' lke that...I'm thinking that he can only do that in short bursts and needs to go to a planet right away ;;;and likely takes a LOT of energy to do that, thus why he powered donw once he got there.

Holycrap1992 In reply to Shadow-DJ [2015-10-04 20:41:24 +0000 UTC]

To be honest, I'm fine with Jetray too, but his design always seemed a little "derpy" to me(same with Brainstorm, actually).

The whole "lightspeed travel" thing smelled way too much like "bullshit the writers pulled out of their asses for this one time."

ALso...with the neuroshock blasts...here's how I am thinknig that te eyes and tails came to be;

The Eye lasers are likey for real combat since their hands look...REALY bad for using guns. Seriously; they are super long and he only has three apendages on his hands. I doubt they'd be useful for grabbing things but good for pressing buttons. So thus to avoid any physical confrontations, later evolutions gained the neuro-energy blasts from a natrual energy they can develop. The tail could release a neuroshock burst to work for hunting, but the eye beams rae much more concentrated and can be more fatal if used right.

Once again: would've been real nice had the actual creative team thought of this themselves...

Shadow-DJ In reply to Holycrap1992 [2016-08-31 23:16:49 +0000 UTC]

Indeed...

I just like to fill in gaps to rationalize how aliens work. Seriously, when Mantarays can fly and frogs can be the most intelligent species of all time, you need to do SOMETHING to justify it (Though with the Galvans having two brains?...actuallyh elps explain how they can be so smart but NOT have giant-as-hell heads)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-DJ In reply to Holycrap1992 [2016-09-05 23:36:53 +0000 UTC]

Chadwick? Yeah...that was because of 'Dr. Jekyll's formula'...here's the changes I did with THAT confusing storyline idea;

Instead of having a fictional character who was trying to remove evil from a person's body, during th 1930s to 40s, the Forever Knights were trying to create a super soldier serum known as 'Project Jekyl', a formula that was meant o give a human a fihting chance against bigger, stronger aliens. However this formula was lost after the Second World War and Dr. Joseph Chadwich was working on making hte new formula. And the only living test subject was a lab chimpanzee named Heinrich, whom was liberated when the 'Knights of Ascalon' (A heroic faction of the Forever Knights following Ben's example after he killed the Diagon and used Ascalon to save the earth from it's influence) liberated him from Chadwich's private lab where he and his caretaker, a young woman named Katherine, went to join the new faction and fight to protect the earth from actual threats, not just going on killing sprees.

Basically, Heinrich is a advanced Ape who happens to be the subjct of a super soldier serum, making him bigger than the average chimp but also much more intelligent, making him based off of Winston in that regard.

Hmmm......... I'm fine with that(so long as there's a good explanation for it)...

I think that might've been because there were no "female knights" in medieval times(and since they seem to base themselves, at least aesthetically, off of medieval knights...)...

There's three animes out, BUT hte two main ones I'd recommend are Fate/Zero and Fate/STay Night: Unlimited Blade Works

Agreed. It's weird; designs for Jetray don't really have a middle-ground, they're either really awesome or really crap.

Not to derail the conversation, but should Spidermonkey have super-strength?

Yeah, it's weird how that's the case of no middle ground.

Nah, super strength doesn't really seem likeΒ a power associated with part of him. Plus it might make it so his Ultimate self's super strength isn't all that special.
