Description I had this old Vindicator kit lying around for quite a while now and I decided to give it some love since I'm in the process of building my Imperial Fists army. I would like it though to have the new Rhino as its chassis, so I went for a full scale conversion to fit the old metal parts to the new Rhino kit... you can see some WIP pics in my blog: [link]

It would be nice if you could leave me a vote in CoolMiniOrNot as well : [link]

Hope you like it! Comments are as always more than welcome.

Thank you so much!! I intend to create a whole army with this look but its really time consuming...

Amazing weathering work!

The way you did all the grime and scratches look fantastic.

Beautiful work! Love your attention to detail, especially the weathering you've added to this model.
I'm currently building an Imperial Fists army myself this summer (just started, actually). I'd love to see more images of your army, especially your troops n' such.
I'm also on the look out for some info on squad numbers and markings for IF's; if you know of any decent sites, would you mind sharing?
Thanks!

Thank you for your kind remarks! One other Imperial Fists model that I have managed to finish (the one that actually got me into building an army actually) is my Lysander, check my gallery. All other models I have are currently WIPs but I'm really close in finishing one of my Land Raiders, so watch this space for more updates soon. I have found Bolter and Chainsword forum really useful for both fluff and iconography, check these links : [link] [link]

Great! Thanks for the links. I'm still looking for info regarding squad numbers which overlay the squad markings. For example, in the 5th, there are six tactical squads; does this mean each squad is designated 1 thru 6? And the two subsequent assault squads are designated 7 thru 8?
Maybe I'm giving this too much thought, but I want to be as accurate as possible.
Thanks!

I think that you must be correct. Imperial Fists are one of the Astartes that follow the codex closely, more or less like the Ultramarines. The only think that differentiate themselves is the different colours that use for shoulderpad trimmings according to the company they belong to.

Like it, like it a lot. great paint job, that side bag & tow rope, are they spares from a tamiya type tank kit ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HomeOfCadaver In reply to theoggster [2010-06-11 23:13:34 +0000 UTC]

Many thanks! All the bits are from GW kits. The tow rope is from the Razorback I think...

Great work mate. I love the battered paint job here, there are just too many clean and tidy tanks about. Nice yellow as well; that colour is always a bitch to paint decently.

HomeOfCadaver In reply to jack-haggard [2010-06-09 00:06:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes, yellow is quite a bitch to paint it decently but I have a strange love for this color... dunno why

So glad that you liked my job, really appreciate the feedback!

Awesome! Love the wear and tear on it. The driver is a tad red (shoot here for big VPs, y'know?), but that can be levels adjustments if you've done any of those before uploading it.

Overall, a nice piece, with a good yellow. May I ask how you did it? I have a soft spot for Imperial Fists myself, but I'll never be able to paint an entire army of them.

Thank you for the kind remarks. I have started with a Desert Yellow undercoat (the Army Painter spray), washed the whole model with Burnt Umber oil (80 thinner - 20 paint) and then gradual drybrushings from GWs Iyanden Darksun to Golden yellow and then added some white to the whole mixture for the final highlights. Thats roughly how I paint most yellow models.

Great wear and tear, usually I don't like yellow tanks but with all the scratches and dirt it works really well. Good job

Yellow can be a dull color to paint and show, but I like it a lot painted that way too. Glad you liked it!

ok good , is it possible you make some photos of it in other perspectives, so that it looks if it was taken from a person in the size of the tank...

If you want the picture high realistic please take the photo with a withe or blue background, its easyer to cut it out than XD

As many have said, excellent work on the weathering and damage effects. Just one negative though, the bright red tech marine on top looks too out of place. Have you considered shading him, maybe with a dark wash?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HomeOfCadaver In reply to sie42 [2010-06-08 08:45:45 +0000 UTC]

I have great problems photographing red and this pic is no exception. I assure you that the techmarine is at least 2 tones darker in reality... dunno, any tips would be great from someone that knows these stuff ...

Thanks for the comments!

Oh man, good to know I'm not color blind then. I don't know if it's a contrast issue then, but maybe try messing around with the white balance, color balance and contrast, until it looks like it is in reality?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HomeOfCadaver In reply to sie42 [2010-06-08 18:53:53 +0000 UTC]

The problem seems to be only with the red areas, maybe its a setting in my camera, dunno. Will play with these settings in Photoshop and see what I can do...
