For the first part go here

The second part of my BOTW Zelda prequel fanproject! Today I want to present you two of the main characters of the game, plus the design of King Horatio, whose personality and role is still a work in progress. I hope you still like it and see you. uwu

-----------------------------------------------------------

Nanas is a Sheikah scientist, who was also the first one of his kind. In his youth, he used to be an ambulant shopkeeper, following his family’s tradition. However he decided to permanently stay in Kakariko Village after an incident happened in West Necluda: while he was approaching to start to sell his goods, a group of monsters attacked him. Realising they stole his weapons, he quickly abandoned his stall and ran until he found an hidden cave he was sure to be safe. Feeling cold, he decided to set to turn on the fire using two stones he found on the floor, realizing they made a blue blaze, similar to the one nearby deceased people’s spirits. But what he was surprised the most was when those stones nearby the flame started to replicate each sound he made, like a perennial echo capable of remembering audible or as he discovered lately, information.

Fascinated by this unusual correlation, he stabilised himself and his activity in Kakariko Village, and split his life into a stable shop (albeit with questionable schedule) and in a proper study about the rare stone he found, which he called the Sheikhite, proprieties.

During over twenty years, his researches, from a simple hobby became an established parallel activity: wondering about what benefits a stone which surface can be keep and modify data could do to the Hyrulean society, he invented the early prototypes of what in BOTW are called Guide stones and, most importantly, a special rudimental slate (an early model of BOTW’s Sheikah Slate) which, in his mind, was meant to simplify the journeys of the numerous wayfarers present in Hyrule and to program some simple abilities capable to indicate the maps and the best places to visit or where the monsters weren’t likely to attack.

He was not completely alone, though: also a small group of fellow Sheikahs from the most different place of Hyrule were fascinated by his discoveries and practiced themselves as well, helped by the fact that Sheikhite artefacts, based presumably from magic and needing less math knowledge, are easier to program than our computers.

However most other people if not properly adverse to their researches, did not seem them as good as Nanas hoped: considering even the scientist if not bizarre, useless, for many time from the very start of his work most of Kakariko villagers just considered him a rather eccentric shopkeeper.

From a programming error for a special photocamera rune in his tablet, Nanas created a special one which led Link to travel across the parallel Hyrules in which Ganon divided himself. Agreeing to give to the hero the slate and intimately proud of contributing to another chapter of reign’s history, Nanas and with him his fellow scientists will pass most of the time in the game trying to improve the runes in order to simplify the Hero of Paths' work and, at some point, to eliminate all Ganon’s “viruses” from the paths found by Link or within the Guide Stone.

Nanas’ role also will be also crucial in Zelda’s character development: while Link was already busy exploring the Other Hyrules, the grieving Princess at the start of her slowly healing process pulled herself to work for him for free along with Tiusha. Seeing the scientist’s hard work in his research slowly led her to be interested as well to progressively to assist him. His hard work and technology along with Tiusha’s optimism (who Nanas temporarily hosted in exchange of keeping the shop in his place)helped the Princess to slightly distract herself from her guilt feelings and to discover a new passion.

At the end of the game, the newly crowned Queen Zelda will call Nanas to be the Royal Scientist of the United Hyrule and from the Princess’ recognition along as the huge, his work started to be more popularized.

From Nanas’ pioneering technology the Sheikah tribe managed to evolve so rapidly that in only 500 years there were invented not only more efficient Guide Stones and Slates, but even those highly efficient defence mechanism that were called Guardians and Divine Beasts. While his name did disappear into a distant legend, his hard work was influent and with time controversial, still discussed in the reign.

Apparently aloof and rather unmotivated at his shopkeeper workplace, Nanas’s true personality is intimately passionate: moved by an excellent intuition and logic, he’s openly aware that his inventions are capable to change the world, causing him to be unfairly seen as prideful by Kakarikans. However, as written in a peculiar page his research notes, when privately dedicated to his science while intellectually driven even after 20 years of unstoppable work, he sometimes seems to question himself about what specific utility his inventions could have and he’s capable to question himself to the point of momentarily give reason to his detractors, but these periodic doubts were about to be surpassed by as much counterpoints and his genuine wish to improve Hyrule, motivates him to go forward.

Rather sincere, bad at expressing feelings and sometimes direct, he does actually care about the few friends and the people who helped him through his life, and doesn’t like to not return all the good they done for him. He also seems to be quite hospital and comprehensive, if we leave out his highly detached personality: he decided to host a broke Tiusha in his home, giving her food and a bed, only in exchange of an help during his shop work.

Despite he’s close with Tiusha and manages to have fun with her, the scientist is aware of her crush on him but doesn’t return her feelings: besides feeling too old for her, he also wishes the Gerudo’s future matriarch to meet a younger boy who can love her more than he could ever do.

From the food he keeps in his table, he seems to have a sweet tooth.

--------------------------------

Tiusha is one of the daughters of the Gerudo Matriarch, as well the second in her line to inherit her mother’s title. While she shows the potential to be one of the greatest warriors of her tribe, in most of the game she’s not respected as she deserves mostly because her highly undisciplined personality. Prior of the game’s events , she used to be along her sister a part of the eight guards of the Gerudo citadel but she was temporarily expelled due of her highly disrespectful behaviour towards the Chief and how she complained about the military exercises’ schedule.

Her older sister Birye, in order to cut out all the gossips a similar news caused around her people and show the daughter about how actually Hyrule’s reality is less forgiving than the ambient in which was raised, suggested Tiusha to leave the citadel for the arc of time she was expelled.

Seeing more as an occasion to see the world outside the citadel than as a exile, the young Gerudo wandered around Hyrule, admiring what the reign had to offer and squandering all of the money her mother gave her to buy clothes and jewels, becoming broke in few weeks.

Finding herself in Kakariko Village in that moment, in winter, and not able to afford a room in the inn, she begged everyone there to host her but she was refused by everyone but Nanas, who accepted her presence in his home in exchange to help him in his shop.

Without other alternatives, she accepted and started to work starting to the following day; bored by the simple Sheikah’s lifestyle at first, she slowly got used to it (though always preferring the opulent Gerudo and Royal Hylias' lifestyle) and despite not liking him at first, she fell in love with Nanas. His presence, cold yet caring and passionate lifted the Sheikah scientist as her voe.

When Ganon took violently possession of Hyrule’s castle and the consequent arrival of Link and Zelda in the village, Tiusha asked her mother if she could investigate about the catastrophe and if she could try to save the other survivors, finding herself closer to it than the rest of the guard, but the Matriarch answered she already sent Birye instead. Highly worried about her sister’s wellbeing, Tiusha ran to the castle’s ruins, only to be violently expelled multiple times by Ganon’s enemies. In the meanwhile Birye’s whereabouts were not to be found, as she didn’t responded to the several letters the Gerudo wrote her.

Came back to Kakariko village, she intensified the correspondence with the her mother and the rest of the family. Along with her shop work, since she’s a peer of Princess Zelda (which already seen few times during her childhood) and in a similar social condition, Impa asked the Gerudo girl to assist the Princess at work and, if possible, to help her emotionally. She happily accepted it, happy to find a friend of her age in a village mostly inhabited by grown adults and children.

Still rather optimistic about her sister’s status, Tiusha’s life seemed to turn back as apparently as normal, albeit few change: her funny and irreverent behaviour and her unrequited relationship with Nanas helped her to distract herself from the worry about her sister. Despite finding really difficult at first catching Zelda’s attention and heavily disliking the Princess' hopeless behaviour, while Link and Cice started their adventure the Gerudo’s second born succeeded to be good friend with the princess.

However their peace tended to be limited: later, Nanas and the Princess perceived something strange at Kakariko, as an invisible threatening presence which seemed to be observing cautiously the life there. Zelda asked Link, Cice and Tiusha to investigate and they made a shocking discover… Birye, that sister which not Tiusha nor her mother and the Guard received any news was alive but was changed. Caught on the act of spying Zelda and her allies, she said she was convinced by the Ganon of the Child timeline to ally with him, as a commander of his army which one of the objectives was to find and kill the last Princess with the blood of the Goddess.

During the inevitable battle, in which Tiusha participated, Cice was heavily injured and while an emotionally wrecked Zelda provided to cure her as best she could, Tiusha offered Link to assist him in fairy’s replacement, trying to at least discuss with Birye, hoping to not harm her in any way.

While she was not as resourceful as the pixie, the Gerudo’s now future matriarch helped the Hero of Paths battling the apparently infinite army with her trustworthy Scimitar of the Crescent, treasure she inherited from her grandmother.

While nor she, Link and lately Zelda were capable to open Birye’s eyes about Ganon’s innate cruelty, Birye after discovering his true plans of pure destruction, betrayed him, reuniting with Tiusha and her original army. Then, the monster’s troop, now commanded by Ganon’s henchman Synander started a manhunt.

Tiusha and Birye separated from Link and Zelda, came back on Gerudo citadel trying to protect themselves. However it seemed to be a poor decision, since Synander called troops from all three timelines to attack the Citadel, surrounding it. Then Tiusha, Birye and the rest of the army of the Eight bravely defended it, successfully, with the remote help of a Zelda who in the meanwhile acquired her full powers at the nearby spring of Power.

At the end of the game, a now mature Tiusha is now fully revered along the rest of the Army as the Eight Heroines who bravely contributed to unify Hyrule. Despite being the second born, she surpassed Birye’s right to become the Matriarch, since the latter fame became controversial since her ambiguous role in the events. However, Birye seemed to be fine with the decision, since even her thinks it’s the right, even too low price to pay to helping contributing Ganon’s rise in all the three dimensions. Tiusha and Zelda remained friends and during the Queen’s reign, the last conflict within the Hylians and the Gerudos were pacified. She proposed Nanas to be her voe, promising him to not ever worry about the money when studying his technology but he humbly refused her, since her love was unrequited by him. Despite being heartbroken, she respected his will and still maintained the scientist as a friend.

psst... it's been a huge gap between last post and this, and I apologise, I didn't really have the inspiration of doing anything in last months and I'm sorry about that...  ;^;
