Oh, this is just perfect in every way! I love this pairing, I love The Sound of Music, I love this song, and I always thought Austria and Hungary would be awesome as the characters in the movie! And when you type out the full lyrics - you're right, it does fit very well with the history of Austria-Hungary.

Oh wow, thanks so much! <3 I had to remove most of the Ouran stuff because all the "Ouran Spoofs" got taken down, so it meant they were looking for Ouran videos to delete.... which means more strikes towards losing my account again, and I don't want that to happen again. T^T I've uploaded some to currymuttonpizza.tumblr.com though. I actually did upload a few Hetalia videos but one of them was what got my last account deleted. -_- I have to reupload these things with the video flipped horizontally... that usually avoids trouble because the bots don't detect it that way.
I looooove AustriaxHungary, and the more I read about them the more I a) realize how turbulent the relationship is compared to how it's portrayed in the series, and b) love them even more. XD I RP Austria actually... I wanted to pick a Hetalia character to RP, and I was trying to figure out which country I knew the most history for, and... well, I was a music major at a conservatory, so that was kind of a given. And now I'm kind of ridiculously obsessed with him. >____> lol.

Although the Liesl/Rolf ending is also perfectly plausible for them too, depressingly. T_T fff. But since they're still very close in the series even after the divorce, I thought this was more fitting especially for a wedding anniversary.

Thank you!! I know, omg... it's been actually 13 years this week since I went to Austria and I want to go back so much!! I was only 11, our children's choir went on a trip there... hahah. I would love it so much more now, and I would want to spend more than just a week... I have a degree in voice, so I am hoping I can maybe go to a summer program there to sing... it's so expensive though. ><

Ahh, by history, I mean more of a combination of actual history and how it's sort of romanticized in this series. The series is called Hetalia, and basically, each country is a person. These are the characters for Austria and Hungary... because of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, they were married for a time in the series. They later divorced, of course, but it's implied that they still care deeply about each other.
I know the series takes a LOT of liberties with how countries feel about each other... for example, I always laugh at how they portray the American Revolution... Britain's character in the series was so attached to America as a little brother and never wanted him to leave, when in reality, the colonies were costing England a lot of money and England probably only wanted to keep them to save face (and because France was on the colonies' side, ha). But a lot of fans love to pair the UK and US Hetalia characters together for fun. It is a lot of fun to compare the story in the series to what actually happened in history... and I'm a little rusty on European history so I am trying to read more and more, because I know that Hetalia can bend the truth. So I don't know a lot about what sentiments were on both sides when the Austro-Hungarian Empire was formed (yet!)... but they care about each other deeply in the story, and after reading about how turbulent the relationship between the two countries sometimes was before the "marriage," it makes it sort of sweet to see that the fictional characters got past that.
Hungary is such an awesome character in the series... a lot of people say that she is tougher and stronger than all the other countries, who are mostly men. XD

Err i know about Hetalia(the word means: untrustable)
and i know about Hetalia not exacly being true to history...
Since austrian people basicaly hate us, and we are basicaly neutral about them.
(But now that i think about it... except for Poland and Turkey every other country either hates us and want us to disappear or they just don't like us... unpopular hungary ohh yeah...)

XD Yeah, people forget that it's a comedy series and isn't a real history book... but it's still fun. Personally, as an American, I love how they portray America's personality... I was so afraid before I watched the series that he was going to be a fat cowboy, lol... well, he eats a lot, but mostly he is just an overgrown child. He's loud, and he annoys most other countries... but they make it clear that he has a good heart, and is just naive. And the idea of his personality being that of an overgrown child makes sense to me because America is SUCH a young country... I sort of see him as a typical impulsive teenager who always wants to help but doesn't realize how much his actions affect everyone else. XD

Awesome... I have wanted to do a music history comic with Hetalia (I was a music major in college)... basically telling music history through Hetalia characters and I wanted to make Poland and Hungary great friends because of the friendship between Chopin and Liszt. And I always found it weird that Austria plays so much Chopin... and come on! They say "Italy liked to watch Austria play the piano" when it was really the other way around... Italy gave the world so many musical instruments including the piano, and even most of Mozart's operas were in Italian because German was not considered a very musical language.

And the other fact is that Greece and Italy are even older than Hungary.
Yet Italy is shown as a lil' child meanwhile Hungary is already an adult.
I'd love to show you something about 1956 and the other really interesting things.
I'm sorry to say this but i can't really tell you about other countries' history. I suggest whatever country's history you are interested in, ask someone from that country about it.

Well the point of that was that there were predecessors... Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece were different characters.
No, I know, I wasn't expecting you to give a world history lesson XD It's normal to know the most about your own country's history... which is why USxUK makes me laugh so much. I don't mind it, it's just funny to me. And yeah, I saw there was the revolution... I had not read much about it yet, I was reading more about the 1848 revolution first.
