I don't think they mean to hang her, because if they did, there would be no need for masks.
Perhaps they are contract killers, but the contract wasn't on her, but rather on someone else.
So maybe instead of having to hold her breath for a long time, she will need to hold her balance for a long time. A rope around one's neck can serve as a restraint instead of something that strangles.
