Description
It's not everyday someone on the internet hands you a page of asses and Powley in slave girl Leia costumes.sketches for this painting
I finished my 'first professional sketchbook' the other day. This is a bunch of crap from that, and the one I started last week.
There is a lot of crazy going on in here. And a lot of Powley.
I regret nothing.

Wallace downloaded it and we were trying to play it one time, it was pretty priceless. Also, he has the best theme song.

Love it all! The owls, the chubby unicorn, the people! And the asses I must admit I nearly spit out my orange juice when I saw that the page of asses wasn't a joke. They are very nice asses too

XD thank you.
I know it's perfectly commonplace to do studies of hands, feet, faces, torsos, whatever, but I don't think I've ever seen a study page of asses.
Gribby said something about drawing asses though and it felt necessary.

Thank you!
I've been making quite the study of owls actually, so it's good to know it's paying off in some way. ^^

These certainly weren't my first dabblings, a few sketchbooks ago I started doing owls in preparation for a painting. I think I did about ten pages of just little thumbnail sketches based on images I found on google. Not to mention sketches for the painting itself. That was several months ago though, this was mostly to try and pick it back up and remember how to draw them.

I only started about....wow I guess its been since this spring.Β Longer than I thought.Β But I don't work on drawing them everyday, sometimes weeks pass in between because I don't have the time.

Yeah, I started in either November or December
Just keep scrap paper bits on hand and whenever you have a minute, doodle an owl. I can guarantee you that you'll start seeing results not only with just drawing owls, but drawing in general. ^^

What I usually do is I have a bag on me with a small sketchbook at all times, and when people stop paying attention I just sit and doodle. XD
That may be a bit excessive for other people though, I don't know

Ahhh man my high school's art class was sooo baaaaaad. DX
I didn't even realize how bad it was until I went to art school, but it was sooooooooo baaaaaaaad. I was actually kind of mad when I heard that other people did stuff like life drawing in high school, I'd been stuck doing paper mache and copying pictures with grids.
Though since then I've found out that a lot of local places offer art lessons and life drawing. It's good to be able to learn stuff on your own, I do a lot of self-disciplined study as well, but life drawing makes you improve much more drastically and rapidly than just studying anatomy books.

My art teacher had us doing various things.Β 8th grade we made clay bowls by forming the clay over a styrofoam bowl, 1 impressionist painting, several simple horizon drawings, 1 large horizon drawing (had to draw our own bedroom), and I think there may have been a few other watercolor paintings but I am not entirely sure.Β 9th grade (if we chose to take the class) was various paintings I think, don't remember.Β 10th grade opened up specific art classes you could take.Β Stained glass, Drawing, Painting, Pottery, and another class I never took and there fore don't remember....Β Painting we mostly did watercolors and 1 Bob Ross oil on canvas.Β In Advanced Painting we had a certain number of projects we had to do with each type of paint (watercolor, acrylic, oil) but we got to decide what to do where in basic we are given a template to follow.Β Drawing was really fun.Β Mostly it was copying a template but we did a large scale horizon picture of a city block (we each made our own buildings) and 1 large scale grid picture.Β We also did some life drawing types, a curtain thrown over a projector, drawingΒ a crumpled piece of paper (which we litterly crumpled a piece of paper and threw it on the floor) we went outside and drew plants, trees, or twigs.Β We also did a scratch board and not the kind you buy with premade lines on them.Β And last but not least, and my favorite, pen and ink drawings! Β Stained Glass kinda speaks for itself.Β In both advanced and basic we found our own designs.Β Β The teacher taught us how to do it then let us do our own thing, giving us advice along the way.Β Our art teacher was awesome.
