Very impressive location, well chosen!
The symmetric composition looks good to me, too.
The size of the trees give a very good sense of scale with the 'human' figure in the middle.
I personally compose a little bit different:
I try to never cut the trees on the lower edge, unless they are very far in the foreground
and in return I try to exclude the sky from my shots, because of its brightness, which is distracting my eye a little bit

Thank you for your thoughtful and in-depth feedback, I highly appreciate it! I would agree your way of composition in general, but in this case the unlucky crop on the lower edge was necessary because of a very tortured ground there (big dithces, garbage, wheel tracks and God only knows what else were there) while the presence of the sky is part of the story telling—I tried a crop as you suggested and the part of magic dropped off from the story. This is a scene of an (untold, but discussed and planned in minute details) tale of the hunted-haunting (sic!) fae and with this motivation the lack of the sky would take away the connection to the celestial powers that help put a spell on the river. (See the third thumbnail among the suggested images—the fae puts a bridge of light on the river to defy her hunters and later turns against them.)
I am honoured by your suggestions and yes indeed, I actually gave them a try. (I have a version, a kind of test shot where the disturbing foreground is visible. I wish it wasn't )

My pleasure!
Oh, I understand pretty well.. The natural shots I take are mostly in small forests or areas surrounded by people.
I have to fight with electricity cables, trash, trashbins etc., too, very often.
Fortunately I can clean up the mess with photoshop in most cases!

I prefer keep the PS editing as low as I can. I do it of course as necessary but try to avoid it. For this instance, the foreground was out of question because it was scattered around with all disturbing things... I would still edit them out in the next 4 years

Send me the RAW file. If you are interested in a little experiment.
I won't publish it, I'll just send it back by email!

Sorry, I don't have the right for that. We agreed in the team that we don't hand out uprocessed versions that are not acknowledged by all team members.

You can imagine that we loved this series, even for the location itself
