It is a big fun to play with the shadows

A very popular subject, the distortion of three dimensional into two dimensional. A really good subject for a camera with only one "eye"!

I always try to find out where the light is coming from, in such shots. It is also noticable that the distance between the shadow and the object can be judged by the sharpness of the shadow, in this case it is a good example, as the two shadows have the opposite sharpness. The contrasts are well balanced.

As for improvements, the "two dimensional" illusion might be even better with a 200 mm (or longer) lens, which is equalizing the perspective even more.

Thank you! About the focal length: it was actually a 200mm lens (a 70-200 to be more precise) but neither I nor the ceiling was high enough to use more zoom Not to mention that I would have lost DoF and I had no more light power (without even more shadows from different directions) to stop down. Somehow I felt even this a bit grainy so neither the higher ISO was an apparent oprion. Perhaps I could give it a try and perhaps I will, as I plan to do it with four forks with interweaving shadows. It is a time consuming but really funny experience (and the four forks version is really just an experience).Β

Thank you for the great ideas and the feedback!
