Went to Anime Expo this weekend(: It was a ton of fun~I cosplayed as Scarecrow on Sunday

I love this. I working on a scarecrow cosplay for a con coming up soon In my city but I'm torn whether to do a full Arkham asylum scarecrow or part Arkham and part batman begins. Either way thanks for the inspiration hope mine comes out well.

For the mask I made a base with card stock using this: [link] as a sort of guide. I didn't make the mask moveable as you don't need it for this cosplay but I made it seperate so that way I had some air flow for breathing especially when I added the metal mouth part; I had to modify the pattern a bit especially when I added on the gas mask part. I added the extra tape and paper on to give it the 3-D effect above and below the eyes. For the gas mask my mom got me actual respirators from her work and I cut them in half and spray painted them silver then glued them close to the edge of the paper. Then I glued the burlap to it and colored the eyes black with my liquid eyeliner cause my sharpie died lol. I made sure to keep the burlap long enough to shove it in the hood like his. I sewed the metal part in using metal wiring. And that's pretty much it for the mask.
The rest of the outfit consists of two different brown fabrics sewn together using patterns for the hood and the pants. The pants I made wholesome making sure that they were baggy and then cut them up and re sewed them. All of the bigger stitches were then hand sewed on using unravelled pieces of the burlap actually. It was nice for the thick stitches needed and looked good for the look needed for scarecrow. And I pretty much did that for the hood part and the arm bands. I used Pleather for the belts around his legs and on his arm bands and strips of metal were cut for the buckle parts. And for the bandages I used self adhesive bandages. His needle hand was made kinda last minute so it wasn't that well made but it held up for the day. I used flower water tubes and glued little bolts (I think that's what they're called lol sorry) to the top of them then glued metal wiring on top as well for the needle parts and then I spray painted those and painted the inside orange I glued glo stick tubes to them but I'd suggest tubing much more bendable and adjustable then glostick tubes hehe and those went back to more tubes I had on my arm. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun to wear c:

thank you^^...but it's going to be a long time getting to this cosplay...the only cosplays i've done are L from death note and road kamelot from d gray man{ both fairly easy cosplays} but i can't wait till i am able to do this XD~

kekeke i love them too ^^ but a challenge is nice every now and then...i'm really limited in what cosplays i choose though because of my lack of skills and i have no wigs TT^TT keke it's a good thing the scarecrow wears a mask...the joker on the other hand is going to be a bit more...difficult

That is quite true~ You should just practice sewing random things and making random objects to build up your skills and you should also check out eBay for wigs. You can find some cheap ones that are great quality on there like I just gotta medusa ( soul eater) wig for like $20 free shipping. I'm sure you'll figure something out and you'll look great ^-^

All wigs are the same size, there's a strap on the inside that you adjust to fit your head~

Yeah I was scared the first time I bought a wig haha Oh a tip for wigs, try and find multiple cosplays that could work for em so that way you don't have to spend a lot of money.

my dream cosplays are no face from spirited away{a modified form of it}, scarecrow{ the game design}, scarecrow{the movie design}, joker, little red riding hood{modified}, alice {alice in wonderland, modified}, the mad hatter{modified},haku{ spirited away, though this one has way beyond my sewing skill patterns...TT^TT},batgirl,raven{teen titans},batman{batman beyond} etc...yea my list is very long...eheheh...
and yea there are times when i feel kind of sad that i don't have anyone to just have cosplay talks with T~T

Once you get started and learn the ropes some complex stuff will only take 2 weeks max. I did scarecrow in a week cause I'm an awful procrastinator LOL
That sounds like it would be really cool :3 Ish not pathetic so shush your faceeee. Anime Conji is down in San Diego in Hotel Circle, you should look it up when you get the chance. Comic con is so much fun or at least it used to be. It's super focused on all the Hollywood stuff instead of comics and cosplay orientated stuff like used to be a few years ago. Yeah those are pretty much the cons I know of too lol with Conji included too. Not to sound weird but where do you live?

i mean it's one thing when i see something like the big bang theory at comic con at least that's a show about a bunch of science comic book loving nerds{i say this in an endearing tone} it's another to see sparkling vampires{ I'm a vampire freak but more of a Underwolrd type of vampire freak}

everyone i know is either to busy or doesn't have the same interests with me....so no ride..TT^TT but it's so frustrating for me because i've been wanting to go to anime expo since 2007 and wanting to go to comic con since 2009...so the restlessness has been building up....
