Boy howdy I've in an art slump and it's been going on for almost a month now. Hell, I forced myself to get this finished simply because, I haven't felt like doing anything arty. It really sucks and I just hope it soon passes.
Anyway, I thought I would try and finish some new Monster High artwork, but unlike my previous Monster High characters, this guy was first created when I was...12? Either way I had just seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie) and got inspired.
When he was first created back in...'93-'94, Raven here was originally a vampire, but I could never think of any real back story for him, let alone any distinguishing personality traits (aside from chivalry, does that count as a personality trait?), so after a good 10 years of trying to work with the poor guy, he wound up being cast off like so many of my older OCs.
Then recently, I re-watched The Monster Club (in all it's cheesy, low budget glory, which featured Vincent Price's only portrayal in his entire movie career as a vampire), which was one of my favourite movies as a kid (I remember telling *Enamorte awhile back about the "Stripper" scene in the film), and Raven awoke in the back of my mind, demanding a bit of a makeover as it were.
And then Raven became a Shadmock rather than a vampire.
What is a Shadmock? Well, Shadmocks are best left described by the vampire Eramus to horror writer R. Chetwyn-Hayes in the movie:
Eramus: "You see first we have the primate monsters: Vampires, Werewolves, and Ghouls. Now a Vampire and Werewolf would produce a Werevamp, but a Werewolf and a Ghoul would produce a Weregoo, but a Vampire and a Ghoul would produce a Vamgoo. A Weregoo and a Werevamp would produce a Shaddy. Now a Weregoo and a Vamgoo would produce a Maddy, but a Werevamp and a Vamgoo would produce a Raddy. Now if a Shaddy were to mate with a Maddy or a Raddy, the results would be a Mock."
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "A Mock?"
Eramus: "Frankly that's just a polite name for 'Mongrel'. You know it's quite simple really. All you have to do is remember the basic rules of Monsterdom. Vampire sup, Werewolves hunt, Ghouls tear. Shaddies lick, Maddies Yawn, Mocks blow, but Shadmocks only whistle."
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "Shadmocks?"
Eramus: "If a Mock were to mate with any of the other hybrids, their offsprings would be called 'Shadmocks'."
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "And they only whistle."
Eramus: "Well they don't do it very often."
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "It doesn't sound too terrifying."
Eramus: "Ohhhhhhh, but you should see the results of a Shadmock's whistling. Shadmocks are the lowest in the monster hierarchy, and yet they have this Power!"
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "What happens when a Shadmock whistles?"
Eramus: "I heard of a man once who saw the results of a Shadmock's whistling. That's all he saw...and yet...and yet..."
And that's a shadmock. Shadmocks are considered the lowest in the monster kingdom (making them most likely lower than zombies in accordance with the Monster High canon). Despite this, shadmocks are normally feared by other monsters as well as humans who do not even realize their heritage. Even Raven's own parents gave him up out of this fear...fear the shadmock will whistle in the event that they were upset (this ability isn't used often and it's only used if the shadmock is upset, frightened, or threatened. Shadmocks have little control over this ability so one would have to be very careful in their presence).
Lucky for Raven, he was adopted by the vampire Eramus (who has a vast knowledge of monsters) and was raised by the old vampire. Raven eventually became employed as a waiter at the Monster Club to help him get over his anti-social behaviour. Later, Eramus would send Raven to Monster High is hopes that the shadmock would make some friends...friends who would see past his mixed heritage and not fear him.

I know, right? I mean my god. In my Sims 2 game (which is kind of dead until I can finished recovering everything and reboot the neighborhood), Raven and the boyfriend (Akumu) are married with alien abduction kids. ^.^;
I mean, these dumb fan girls didn't read the part where shadmocks emit a horrifying aura. It's hard for people and other monsters to get close. ^.^;

lolz. I've plays Sims 1 and 2. I kind of wanna try SIms 3, but my comp isn't strong enough for it and I hear Sims 3 doesn't work with the Inteenimator hack. I'm sorry, but I can't go without Inteen. ^.^;
It was cute. Akumu, who is probably the biggest asshole of all of OCs, was a surprisingly good daddy.
Well, in my NeverRealms canon he's the personal butler of my character Sedva, who's um...pretty outgoing hirself.

I've been playing sims for years now - still have all my old sims 1 games actually, right next to my books in my bookcase (they take up most of the shelf). My sims 2 games are there too actually due to the lack of space in my room.

Inteenimater is a hack you can download for Sims 2 that allows teens to do things only young adult, adult, and elder sims can do...like woohoo.It also allows your teen Sims couples to remain together when they grow up. Teens can also propse marriage to one another, and if the teen's age meter thing is filled up halfway, the game reads them as being over 18 and they no longer have to attend school. This last part came in handy when I had a vampire teen Sim and he had to sleep during the day. ^.^;
I only have Sims 2 and the first three EPs. Once I get a new laptop, I'll probably reboot my neighborhood and get Pets-Bon Voyage at least. ^.^;
Well, he gets on well with Raven and his friends.
Yeah, Raven is one of my old character. I made the first version of him when I was 12. I just put him in Monster High to develop him better as a character. ^.^;

Ohhhh, you meant that hack! I remember it was really popular a few years back. I wanted to download it, but with all my sims game related issues, I thought it'd been better not to take the risk. So it ended up working? That's good to know. Perhaps I'll download it now once I re-install my sims 2 games... which will happen right after I find the first disk from the sims 2 pack... (probably going to have to buy the entire sims 2 pack again just to get all the disks). But the Inteenimater sounds really cool, I like the idea of teen sims being taken more seriously in the game, if that makes sense. But question: does it effect the teen sims chance of going to university since they're considered 18 after the half-filled age meter thing is filled?

Those are really good choices! Bon Voyage was great for vacation and beaches. If the sims 3 lacks anything that the sims 2 has, it's being able to swim in the ocean. I really loved that feature.

Well, just make sure you download the version that corresponds with your EP or Stuff pack. I had the OFB version of Inteen. I've been using Inteen since the base game...although it was weird since teens made no sounds when doing adults action of giving compliments to adults or woohoo. It's fixed if you have University though.
I lucked out and found the Sims 2 base in the Salvation Arym of all places. It was the 2006 Holiday Edition with the full "Happy Holiday Stuff" expansion pack. It made it possible for Akumu to wear his robes.
Nah, it never affected my teens going to Uni. The over 18 thing only effects teens moving in with adults, inviting adults to move in, and getting married. Expect your Teens to get apired with a lot of adults of you use the Gypsy Matchmaker though...and vice versa.
Oh he did. His name is Henry and he was originally a Romance Sims (later Pleasure when he found the perfect boyfriend) so he got to stay out all night wooing the menfolk downtown...until he ran into his Uncle Matthias, then fights broke out. Hey, Uncle Matthias "stole" Henry's er...girlfriend Taiki away...even though Henry broke hir heart by flirting. ^.^;
Well, Sims 2 helped development too. Sims 2 is good for developing stories.
I have tons of old OC. Some are coming back made over (Like Raven), but some are better left in old sketchbooks in the attic. ^.^;

Yeah,you have to read the instructions when installing. I also use Inteen to speed up SIm pregnancies. I play with aging off so it comes in handy. I only really leave aging off along enough for a baby to grow into a toddler though, then I only tun aging off after that when I want them to 'grow' into the next stage. I cheat and use the Tombstone of Life and Death though. ^.^;
I was very lucky there. I'd been wanting ti for awhile. Of course I couldn't play untl I got my laptop last year though. My old desktop wasn't strong enough for it. ^.^;
Hey, Henry brought that on himself, and then he killed his brother Mateo, and then he died (in the game they both died in a fire, but in the actually story Henry shoots his brother in the head). There adopted mom (and insane nun) wanted her babies back and used the occult to revive them. Downside? Mateo comes back as a zombie. Henry comes back as a vampire, but in-game he came back normally and was bitten later. ^.^;
I usually pull monsters from movies I watched as a kid or movies I'm a fan of. And lately I've been playing with the Create-A-Monster sets. ^.^;

I can't play sims without cheats and mods. The only reason my sims 3 games isn't all mod-ed up is b/c I didn't want it to screw up like my sims 2 games do. I still use cheats though... ^^""
My desktop can't really handle sims either - even if sims is the only program on it, sadly. And my laptop can just barely handle sims. x]

I don't eve have Sims anymore, just Sims 2 with EPs. Let me see...what mods did I have, I had a mod for waterproof servos, a few "naughty" mods, some default replacments, Inteen, The Magical Kermungo (which made it so a household had no jealousy), "Deadly Neckbite" (good for getting rid of ugly townies), and a few others I can't remember right at the moment.
So far, the CAM packs I have are the Vampire/Seamonster, the Dragon, Werewolf and the boy pack. I bought the three-eyed alien without clothes in Ebay and I got the torso pack from Mattel.

Well, I have quite a few default replacements, eyes, skin, I have a purple school bus, a Social Bunny default replacement, a male body replacement (that's naughty). Oh! I have a default Pollination technician replacement that keeps my simmies from having ugly alien babies. 
Another item I had is a modded telescope that increased my chances of having a Sim abducted by 100%. I also used the Tomstone of L&D and get female sims alien pregnant. It doesn't hurt your game.
Oh, I forgot I have a mod that allows vampires to function during the day. hey still freak out in sunlight though, but they take on doing chores like Servos.
Oh, you mean the Design Lab? I want it, but mostly for just the doll. I like the idea of a faceless doll. ^.^;
I want more. I want the skeleton add-on, The Witch/Catgirl pack and the upcoming Mummy/Gorgon and Bloggirl/Icegirl packs.

Well, without the blur (I have a hack that takes that out too), it kind of does look like Ken doll anatomy...of course with the male body replacment...not so much. ^.^;
I've extracted all my Sims from the game, but I've only save about half of them. I need to reopen my game and extract all their houses as well, then make a point to recover my hacks that don't go to the downloads folder (the male body replacment and the no blur).
Alien abductiions were always fun to watch, and I had TWO abductions without the use of a hack, but no one same back pregnant, the first time the house was full and the second time with as a woman that got abducted.
Um...hide the Lab and play with it when the cousins are sleeping?

I've heard of the hack that gets rid of blurs. The one I saw was for the sims 3 though. Now I'm wondering how your male sims look with this body replacement. XD

Yeah, I had one for my game. If you have a dirty mind, I'm sure you can figure out what my Sims boys looked like. The replacement only worked for Adult and Young Adult males though.
Oh it is, and I really don't want to start a new neighborhood until I get a new computer, and I have no idea when that will be. >.>;
Well, a female Sims can get alien pregnant if you use the Tombstone of Life and Death (which you can get by putting your game into debug mode on an occupied residential lot). It doesn't seem to mess with your game either. Just makes sure to turn debug mode off when you're done though.
I never really played any of the neighborhoods that came with the game. I always played my custom neighborhood "NeverVille" and attached all the Unis (I think I'm just going to use La Fiesta Tech for my new hood though since I love Stella Terrano), Down Town and Blue Water Village, although I did extract Chester Gieke from my game so I might not put the Village back. XD

lolz. Then I'm sure it's easy to figure out, and in a way I'm glad the teenage boys didn't have anything. I had an androgynous character who, while no one knows hir sex in my NeverRealms story, I had to make hir a teeange boy in Sims just so s/he would have hir flat chest and slightly broad shoulders. S/he had hips in the canon, but in Sims I could overlook it.
I hope so too. I want a Toshiba and an ethernet card that didn't get fried up due to my dumbassness.
Yeah, once you start debug, shift-click on any Sims on the lot and choose the option "Summon Tombstone of L &D" and once you have the tombstone, turn off debug mode (if you don't your game might crash).
Chester Gieke was a Sims you could get in the Open for Business EP and resembles a red-haired stereotypical nerd. I gave him a make-over (but by no means did I rid him of his nerdiness), he was abducted by aliens and had a daughter name Annalee (who looked like a black-haired, green skinned version of her daddy) and he eventually married my alien brood sow Xenobia and had a son named Murphy with her. Murphy was kind of mean though and had a tendecy to steal newspapers off other lots.
Stella Terrano wound up dating Herbert West (the same Herbert West from the Re-Animator story and movies, and is also my MH OC Riana West's dad).

Yeah, I don't really wanna see teenage wang in my game anyway, or Elder wang, but I only had like one Elder in my game anyway since I find Elders annoying to play with their constant having to go to the bathroom.
I really want a Toshiba with lots of HD space, lots of RAM, and a good processor so I can load my apps quickly.
I used to leave move objects on until I realized I door and windows would snap into place on walls. Did you ever have a weird thing happen in your base game where tow Sims would fall in love if one cheered the other up? O_o;
Chester was cute, I just had to give him more style when I made him over. He looked a bit 80s with the neo green t-shirt hoodie jacket and long sleeves shirt underneath I gave him with the worn JTHM style boots and pants,and the hairstyle I gave him had a headband, but he was style cute.
Well, Murphy stole newspapers autonomously. I could be playing a lot on the other side of the neighborhood and all of a sudden there's Murphy stealing newspapers. ^.^;
Stella and Chester were the only two default Sims I ever really played in my OC neighborhood, although I did have a sims date a really cute Down Townie from Night Life. His name seems to change from game to game (he was called Jess Jones in mine) He had face type one, the brown default longish hair from the base game, the darkest default skintone, he had green eyes and worn blue jeans and a red windbreaker. He was a Fortune Sim and he told my sim he was a photographer. ^.^;

I hated that so much in the game! I never actually had my sims read the newspaper, unless they were searching for jobs, but still it was pretty annoying to have a sim stealing my newspapers..
I played Townies all the time, mostly the Pleasant family because I loved the love/hate relationship with the girls and the whole family affair thing, etc. I don't really remember Jess Jones, probably because he had a different name in my game. But did your sim become a photographer?

It happened a lot (causing me to exit the lot without saving) back when I just had the base game, then when I TRIED to have it happen for a story element (after I stalled Uni, NL, and OFB), it didn't work. --;

I've seen him named George in other games (I saw it in a blog on someone's Plesantview game. He married Cassandra Goth after she divorced Don Lothario in their game) and is you look at the Townies in SimPE (a separate App you can download to back up lots, change names, zodiacs, aspirations, family relations, Sims surgery, etc) he's under a household called "Garth". My sims never got to become a photographer since she was still a teen at the time and I was trying to get her and her brother (Raven's alien baby) both A+ report cards before I sent them to uni...which never happened. ^.^;

Ohh, you're going to attend an art school? I'm impressed! I'm sure you'll do great there because you have great talents with art.
My dad wanted me to go to a university that studied mostly in art, but I'm not so sure. I really want to take psychology because I believe it will benefit me in my writing, but then again I can't say I wouldn't want to take some more art classes like aren't high school required classes.

I also love how teens get to experience their first kiss and it's easier for me to have them get an A+ report card. Plus you don't have to worry about the social worker with teens.

I had lots of teens get A+. Taiki got like eleven in a row before I installed the EPs, then s/.he stopped running in and cheering after the first A. ^.^;

I find it odd that most art teachers don't understand a lot of there students. Out of all my art teachers, I've only had one so far that understood me and my way of art.

Oh, so you go to a community college? You're the second person I've met who goes to a community college. I plan to go to one for two years just for college experience and then transferring to a uni.

It was cute, and pretty funny when you have an adult and a teen do it. The height doesn;t match up so the adult kisses the teens forehead while the teen kisses air.

I think I might of had that in elementary school, but that was it, and maybe 8th grade, but then aperson whom I thought was my friend went and ruined that for me, although I didn't realize there was meddling until a couple of years afterwards. Ah well. ^.^;
Yeah, just get yourself a curriculum for each major before you get started.
Yeah, community college is great, but I'd rather go to art school and get a degree that will work in a field I want to head into. The college I want to go to said my Art credits will most likely transfer too, which will be good since I honestly don't want to retake figure drawing.
Just make sure all your teens stats are in the green before sending them off, and make sure there spiration meter isn't in the red.
